[Skyline Simulations] KCVG - Cincinnati International Airport

Well, it’s finally here, but I’m going to be the first to say I’m pretty disappointed and this will not be a day 1 purchase for me. The p3d version of KCVG from SS was mediocre at best and it looks like their MSFS product isn’t far off from that either. Maybe it’s the poor still images they used, but the attention to detail, poor resolution, and weird textures are throwing me off here. Maybe someone else who picks it up will shed some light on how it is for them.

First, the resolution of these images is absolutely terrible. The images on their site literally have pixels showing to the point where it’s almost hard on the eyes. Second, the images use stock planes. This is 2023 - use real looking traffic in your advertisements! The ground textures look off as well in these. Curious what other folks will think if they buy it.

It’s got to be something with the screenshots posted to their site, even the aircraft look bad.

I just checked their Facebook and the photo’s look better on there.

Possibly… the night lighting looks pretty poor too which was one of my biggest complaints with their p3d version.

Just blah is right. Was expecting more. Something is wrong with the main runway with the elevation data so it’s not useable. The parking gates are all wrong. Ramp is lack luster. The delta hangar color is wrong. There are a lot of taxi markers in the wrong space.

Thanks for biting the bullet and letting us know. Disappointing to see these problems.

Yea, was hoping this was going to be at least decent, however I’ve seen Skyline’s other work and it’s never been that impressive unfortunately.

Same problems here with the elevation issues on the 36R side of the runway. It’s like an off-road park.

It’s certainly better than default but for how long it’s been in development I expected something better.

Adding a few more items for those who may be interested…

  • Seems to work ok with third party AI traffic. I’m using FSLTL and the commercial side populated well. But I’m seeing cargo planes at gates. So maybe the gates aren’t tagged correctly.
  • Bad news is I don’t see any cargo ops populating on the DHL/ABX/Amazon side of the airport. Maybe I’ll add some statics there.
  • I removed all addons and retried 36R. Still bumpy. Tried with and without Bing maps and PG, still the same bumps. I wonder if there’s an issue with one of the WU since there was one user reporting 36R was fine. Hmmmmmm
  • Interior of terminal B is pretty good. I think maybe they spent more time on the interior than everywhere else. I don’t see any other interiors modeled.
  • I think I see where smaller outer buildings are MSFS default. I guess that’s ok.
  • I wish they modeled the big CVG sign at the main entrance to the airport.

Overall I like it mainly bc it’s better than default. Hoping they fix the 36R issues.

They released a fix. Took me a few tries to figure out how to use it. But 18l/36r is fixed.
