SkySimulations DC-9 for 2020 & 2024

Update no.2 imminent…

I do applaud the dev for issuing two updates within a week of release, even if they don’t address all the bugs. It demonstrates at least some level of commitment.

Like others, I’m not going to buy it just yet but I can’t rule it out if the updates continue to address major flaws.

It’s actually still the first patch being worked on, just this streamer got a second version of it.

I’ve been eagerly refreshing the simmarket app to see when it finally comes out - hopefully soon.

Gotta say there’s something so aesthetically pleasing about the DC-9, especially in all metal and in the shorter variants. Its a good looking plane.

Just seen a very bad review of it by TTM on his channel.
Shame as I’d love a DC-9 and it looks good at least externally. The alternative MD X is much too expensive for me though. Will be worth waiting to see if the many improvements required are made by the developer,as it might be worth considering then.

Matthes review looks interesting

Yes, it is taking the shape of a DC-9, a decent one with a hefty price but they do give you both the -10 and -30 and both pax and cargo versions so if you compare it PMDG would make you pay for each variant, or in other way to see it at PMDG pricing you are getting each of these for about $15.

The only bad thing is that better sounds are planned for a “future” update and that FTsim is apparently not able to release sound packs for 2024.

The closest comparison would be the 737-600 ($35 for one variant of a small, narrow body jet), or the 737-900/900ER ($50 for two variants of a somewhat larger narrow body jet).

That said, much as I’ve wanted a DC-9 in the sim, this isn’t doing it for me, especially at the price being asked. I’d pay that much or PMDG or iFly level quality. This does not seem to be anywhere close to that. Price it at $30 and you’d get a “maybe” for me.

Yes I agree with your evaluation, they really went too high with the pricing of this one.

737 is another type of aircraft… i think just flight f 28 its similiar as avionic…it would be a better comparision, I am convinced that this dc 9 will become a good addon, if the author is as committed as he seems to be,the second update is already about to be released, I’ll even pay them 50 euros to support him, especially if you are a lover of this type of aircraft

I just need a 50 version of it

According to the developer’s FB page, the -20, -40 and -50 versions are coming in the future.

for free i think…

Northwest and delta always brought one or two DC9-50’s into my home airport (KROC) and with the dc9 30 variant and now it’s boring without AirTran or northwest, or the occasional dash 8 q400 because we don’t get anything 757 sized unless it’s cargo :frowning:

Hi all. I’ve been flying both the -30 and-10 successfully, until today. Now the -30 has no hydraulic fluid, and I can’t seem to find a way to re-fill. The -10, which I’ve flown much less, loads up just fine. I’ve gone through many good starts wtih the -30, but this baffles me. Thanks

Pretty frustrating that it’s been three weeks since release and not a single patch released to address any of the glaring issues.

We’ve seen progress on some fixes but hasn’t really materialised.

And that’s why they didn’t receive my money.
Show me the aircraft patched and I’m happy to buy it, there’s even a Ftsim+ sound package available.

Could someone walk me through the steps to set/arm the Cabin Air Pressure system. I can’t seem to do it correctly, having looked at the manual and viewed some online material. I keep getting cabin pressure warnings. Thanks!

Until its properly patched I also wont be spending any money on it. Unless they are waiting for MS to do the latest SU before issuing patches.

Seems to be getting there… slowly.

An interesting video (from what I’ve seen of it — skipped a few sections). The guy they feature is described as a “DC-9 expert” but no elaboration on that. There’s the suggestion that the community has needlessly condemned this aircraft when it’s actually not that bad (post-patch).

There’s a yellow wheel by the throttles, that wheel controls pressurization, attached and in front of the wheel is a little yellow switch, put that switch on, and your pressurization system is in automatic.
