Welcome to another of Gunpilot’s challenging and extreme flights. This 159th event takes us once again into the bowels of the Papuan jungle in West Papua, pitting our flying skills against the inhospital jungle and mountainous terrain.
This flight promises to be difficult in the extreme, and while we will be only covering just under 100NMs, it will take us a few hours to make our way to each jungle airstrip to land our trust Grand Caravan.
No extra challenges such as engine failures, deadstick glides etc will be encountered as this flight will be extremely challenging due to 3 layers of cloud, driving rain that will have you sliding on the airstrips, and a very strong westerly wind system that will have you constantly on the alert for wind shear and loss of lift, as well as having to sideslip on approaches.
*Again, a packaged up WEATHER file has been developed and included along with the flight plan, negating any need for anyone to dial in weather settings, as well as ensuring that all pilots are experiencing exactly the same weather conditions. The Weather Preset file is located in #gunpilots-events (click GUNPILOT’s Server to be taken there). Extract file into your Community Folder prior to launching your sim for the flight.
