I’m currently experiencing slow performance on my current system. 5090, 9950X3D2, 64GB, 4TB.
I get really slow performance using the inibuilds a350-900 and inibuilds EGCC for some reason almost like it isn’t matching my refresh rate or cycle. How can I improve this? I currently have it set to NVIDIA DLSS Frame Gen x2 without no fps cap and monitor refresh rate in msfs settings. No other settings in nvidia app or nvcp. For example I get high latency. (25ms)
You’ll have to post a screenshot of the FPS counter. Also, you should edit the topic and remove the Xbox tag; this is a PC issue. Is this a home built machine?
Also, your GPUMem consumption suggests you are running Ultra settings. So, 60fps at 4k with Ultra is not too bad. Check out this guide to bring down your Mainthread times.
From your screenshot, it looks like you have the FPS cap set to 60.
Please add screenshots of your MSFS 2024 settings in your reply. Also include screenshots of your global NVIDIA settings and the NVIDIA profile settings specifically for MSFS 2024.
EDIT
Please also let me know what monitor model you are using.
Sorry my apologies I was testing with 60fps. It shows 100fps without the 60cap vram is fine.
I don’t use nvidia profile inspector. I don’t know what it is.
In the Nvidia app, change DLSS Override Model Presets to Recommended. Switch to DLSS DLAA in the Graphics Settings. Turn off Frame Gen. Cap at Max Frames 40fps in Graphics Settings. What aircraft are you testing with?
I’ve been flying MSFS forever, 4080/7950x3D and now get smooth, 40 FPS consistent with high settings 250/150 TLOD/OLD. I was already pretty good at tweaking but absolutely the best thing that actually made an immediate difference is using the free SayIntentions AI analysis tool now included in their download.
You don’t need to do anything with SI except run the tool and let it tell you the setting changes it recommends for the GPU, the Game and Windows11. However it did it, SI gave me a recipe for clean, smooth FPS and I have stopped having to mess with things.
That looks great. Fly that for awhile. Vsync off in the game or the Nvidia app is the same thing. Keep it off. Let us know if you see any screen artifacts.
Full motion video (at a movie theatre) is 30fps, so 40fps is plenty. The sim will “firehose” your CPU if you don’t have any Max Frame Rate cap. I’m not sure what you mean by “luck”. What’s it not doing that you are missing?
I have a Ryzen 7 9850X3D and an RTX 5090 and I play in native 4K.
I can assure you that with this hardware, Frame Generation is not necessary. I’ll repeat that: it is not necessary.
The only scenario where enabling Frame Generation might make sense is if you’re running something like a triple-monitor setup. If you’re using a single monitor, Frame Generation is simply unnecessary with an RTX 5090 and Ryzen 7 9850X3D, 9800X3D or Ryzen 9 9950X3D2.
I don’t know how your system is currently configured, so I’ll leave a few suggestions below. Please follow them in the order listed and don’t start from the end
Make sure your system is fully up to date - check Windows Update and install all available updates until there is nothing left to install.
Then follow the instructions below in exactly the same order they are listed.
1 Disable fast startup
2 Disable Hibernation.
Restart PC
1 Enable the ultimate performance powerplan.
2 Select ultimate performace powerplan and click change plan settings > change advanced power settings
3 Expand - PCI Express > Link State Power Management: set Settings OFF
Apply > OK.
Go to Windows Settings > System > Display > Advanced display.
Next to “Choose a refresh rate” set it to the highest Hz your monitor supports (120Hz).
Go to Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics. Click “Add Microsoft Store app” then select Microsoft Flight Simulator from the list. Click on Microsoft Flight Simulator to open it and expand the options, then set GPU preference to High performance (NVIDIA RTX 5090).
