Snow covered terrain over exposed, highlights blown out, loss of detail

Is anyone else noticing that snow covered terrain is getting blown out and overexposed during mid-day, to the point where you can hardly see any texture or terrain detail except for at sunrise and sunset? Things improve if it’s a a cloudy/partly cloud day, but a clear day is real bad visually.

This is most noticeable in VR (I have a quest 3) but I also see it happen on my flat screen with ultra settings, so not sure it’s entirely a VR issue. It really diminishes the visuals when flying over snow covered terrain, especially in the mountains.

Is there anyway to mitigate this?

This was a problem in 2020, and I had hoped that in 2024 with the new lighting changes it would have been resolved. But, it almost seems worse.

Yes, I did notice that. I had a VFR flight over a snow covered mountain range and the snow over saturated the whole screen. No detail to the mountains at all. I run medium graphics at 4K non-VR.

Same here. When the sun is high, you can barely see a thing. Also bare rock gets basically white. Maybe tinkering with the nVidia colour controls could help?

Previously in 2020, I tried various filters and nvidia color corrections, best I could get was everything being grey-ish white, that was also blown out and lacking in detail.
