I’m not sure why it’s not possible to swap out one landing challenge for another but daily events and weekly events have been done by many games across many genres. What’s going on here?
That note was almost two weeks ago. Also no explanation on why?
Are we to expect the live events are a quarterly thing?
It’s easy enough to create your own challenges. You’ve got the entire world to choose from, a variety of aircraft, weather conditions you can set, etc. Do you really need someone else to do it for you?
Yes I do. I also want to encourage feedback that there are many people that encourage developer and community communication and challenges. Having these events pre selected for you is a great way to discover things. Plus it’ll give them stats on who enjoys it and how much time they should spend doing it.
Seems like they’ve already given up on it and haven’t bothered to change it once.
I guess that’s one of the fundamental differences between “gamers” and “simmers”!
Hopefully, MSFS2020 will eventually cater to both.
I tend to flip between both. Sometimes I’m so tired that I just want to load something in and fly and not tinker with 20 panels to get things setup. Sometimes when I have three hrs total I’ll go through everything.
I do want to encourage asobo to do more with this home screen “tile”. I can imagine way more complex events with interesting locations. Perhaps a land in crosswind or perform a missed go around. Gamification is a powerful tool and it’s not just for “gamers”. It’s also a great learning tool and a way for engagement.
It would be great if it changed bi-weekly and a voted upon airport by the sim community was the next challenge.
You’d simply get your score at the end of the current challenge, and a prompt would give you 5 airports to choose from, you check a box and the airport that had the most votes would be the next one.
With many updates to come, perhaps this will happen.
