So much missing

I live in the Washington D.C. area and want to say how disappointed I am with the scenery in this area. It’s not like this is an obscure part of the planet.

  • First off… The Washington Monument is the tallest, freestanding, masonry structure in the world and it’s an obelisk with two windows (on each side) on the pyramidal top. The Washington Monument is NOT a 50-story office building.

  • Washington National Cathedral, sitting on one of the highest points in the city with a 300 ft. tower is a flat picture on the ground. On checking, I also found that Notre Dame in Paris is the same treatment. Are you intentionally not including religious structures?

  • The U.S. Capitol has no dome. C’mon… Really?

  • The small airport closest to my home, Davis (W50), which was represented in previous Microsoft flight sims, is missing completely, while, in real life, it’s traffic is on the increase.

All-in-all, I really like this simulator, I’m just hoping some of these omissions and errors will be corrected in time.

It will mate, it is a matter of fine tuning and improving what they have. I am sure they will fix every problem in US. In a close future patch they will bring lots of photogrammetry to US, so probably Washington DC will be included in that, being it one of the most known cities in USA.

It is more than possible, that US government simply dont allow them to use photogrammetry …

but there are already two addons , one paid (drzewiecki) and one free (srinivasman) who are adding landmarks to D.C

I second your comments. I also noted those omissions but hope that corrections are on someones work orders.

I’m sure Washington will get some improvement with the next World Update but I think maybe you are expecting a bit too much from a $60 sim. If you are that passionate about Washington then you should buy the Drzewiecki Washington Landmarks which adds much more detail than will be added to the default sim.

for Paris, I solved the problem myself :grinning: but indeed, I don’t quite understand why there is no religious cult of representation.

There will be an increased chance of this happening if you log these issues with Zendesk.

Have you done this?

Have a look at this:

I’m kind of new to all this, so I have not. I will though. Thanks.

Or a $120 sim, that’s supposed to be the best ever.

Clicked it. Clicked Download and my computer security went haywire and seemed to be reacting to several oddball connections attempts. Are you familiar with this situation?

I changed the link. That was not where I downloaded it from.

I did not try that link. I think I origonally downloaded it from Flyaway Simulation but the new link works fine. Nothing strange happened.

If it really starts getting to you between now and when we find out if DC will be featured in the next world update, there is the Washington Landmarks Addon from 3rd party on the marketplace. It’s by a pretty good addon dev and it is well done. But yes the US is the next major world update so I would imagine it’s capital gets some TLC.

This one should be safe ,

there are also both airports done by him :

Thanks for the KIAD link. I did not have that one. :ok_hand:t2:

Well, good news, they have a major update coming for North America!!! Happy birthday!!!

Sorry about that! Wrong link.

It’s a $60 sim, the extra cost of the other versions obviously only gets you a few extra aircraft and airports, it doesn’t suddenly improve the sim a lot over the standard version.

Some people act like this is a $500 sim. If you want lots more detail the whole World over you are going to have to pay for it as well as downloading a lot of freeware.

My favorite aircraft are both in the standard version. I popped for the $120 version but knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t do that again. The “handcrafted” airports are underwhelming, honestly, and the extra aircraft just sorta sit there for me.

The base $60.00 version has all the functionality, and the TBM and DA62 are both fabulous to fly. I spend nearly all my time in those two.

Just my $0.02…

No, first the USA…not CDN…yet
