So much of the core sim doesn't function correctly, or has been totally abandoned. What's going on?

Nope.
1.They only appear if you push the LS button.
2. The ILS diamonds aren’t there to indicate when to arm the approach.

  1. They do not appear, even when the LS button is engaged.

Can you post a video to show this? Because I haven’t seen it

Any chance you would SHARE that program with the Community. :+1:

Given that you can only save a .flt file after you have comitted to FLY, being able to do that and then extract a .pln file from that .flt file, would get around that inability to save a .pln file when flying

ILS frequency correctly set for the airport and runway?
Does the runway have a GS?
Anway, that’s off topic and should be continued via PM.

Hi

I’m not sure if it’d work as a standalone program on a computer without the development framework installed on it (Visual Studio and all the libraries).

I’m willing to try to create a package with an exe file. If you want to see if it’ll work on your PC, you can send me a DM with your email and I can send something over with some instructions. If it works, I don’t mind uploading it somewhere for others to use.

I want to make it clear though that I’m not going to be adding features, creating new versions and giving support for it though. This is just a program I use personally that saves me a lot of time. :slight_smile:

Edit: I’ve just re-read your post. My program converts an FPL (Foxtrot Papa Lima) flight plan text file which is the output of Skyvector (and also the format used by Garmin IRL I believe) into a PLN flight plan text file used by MSFS in world maps.

My program doesn’t do anything with FLT files at all.

Ahhhh My Mistake.

Thank you for responding… I jumped the gun and read your original post incorrectly.

and yes, I 100% understand

I want to make it clear though that I’m not going to be adding features, creating new versions and giving support for it though. This is just a program I use personally that saves me a lot of time.

But as your program does not do the FLT to PLN conversion, it is not something I therefore was hoping for, so I thank you for the offer, but no need.

There are very easy ways to get the flight plan out of a saved flight or bush trip and they don´t require conversions:

  1. Any saved flight (FLT) that had an active plan contains the waypoints IDs, their coordinates and altitudes at the following section: [ATC_RequestedFlightPlan.0] . You will see rows like these ones so you can note down the waypoint IDs and enter them manually in GPS or any planning tool later on:
waypoint.0=, LPPT, , LPPT, A, N38° 46.45', W9° 8.05', +000344.49, , , , , , NONE, 0, 0, -1, 0, 0,
waypoint.1=LP, NETVO, LPPT, NETVO, I, N38° 38.40', W9° 12.68', +002100.00, , IXID3S, , , 20, NONE, 0, 0, -1, 3000, 0, +
waypoint.2=LP, GUDAV, , GUDAV, I, N38° 39.03', W8° 35.00', +005000.00, , IXID3S, , , 20, NONE, 0, 0, -1, 0, 0,
waypoint.3=, , , TIMECRUIS, U, N38° 52.70', W8° 27.38', +005000.00, , , , , , NONE, 0, 0, -1, 0, 0,
waypoint.4=, , , TIMEDSCNT, U, N39° 17.03', W8° 13.69', +005000.00, , , , , , NONE, 0, 0, -1, 0, 0,
waypoint.5=LP, IXIDA, , IXIDA, I, N39° 39.30', W8° 1.00', +005000.00, , IXID3S, , , 20, NONE, 0, 0, -1, 0, 0,
waypoint.6=, LPCB, , LPCB, A, N39° 50.67', W7° 26.39', +001250.00, , , , , , NONE, 0, 0, -1, 0, 0,
  1. Bush trips already contain the native FPL file inside their folder. You can check the Asobo Alaska one for instance:

\Official\OneStore\asobo-bushtrip-alaska\Missions\Asobo\BushTrips\Alaska

  1. The easiest way: anytime you save any flight manually while flying it and it contains an already active flight plan you will see an additional entry at the FLT file, named “Filename” under the [GPS_Engine] block. It points to a temporary save location located here:

\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\MISSIONS\Custom\CustomFlight

There you will find a copy of the flight plan in native FPL format. So all you need to do is loading a saved flight and save it manually whenever you want once you are at the cockipt for instance (by pressing ESC and going to LOAD/SAVE menu). That will generate the flight plan file locally. If you create the flight using the game planner that will also generate the flight plan you created at world map automatically at that folder once you press FLY, so there´s no need to save flight again afterwards, unless you change the flight plan during the flight itself.

Be aware that bush trips also save their progress there if I´m not wrong, so backup the existing files first to avoid losing the progress of the active bush trip leg just in case you were running one and something goes wrong. I have not used bush trips for years, so that may have changed now.

Cheers

Have you looked at LittleNavMap ?? It does all that, and then some and it can directly save in a format that MSFS understands.
