So, what's your default Flight Simulator? 2020 or 2024?

Career stuff in 2024. Would love to use 24 only but some stuff too buggy. Airbus practice free flying mainly in 2020.

Took me all the way to last month to put neofly on 2020. I use it when I’m indecisive on what to ‘do’ and 2020 runs full tilt flawless. For 2024 I stick to basic planes away in bush and ‘country’ flying. I don’t want to keep score in 24 career yet as I think it’s going to be completely worked over. I think most of the UI and control interface will also be overhauled. Which is why it’s so quiet on the dev front and it just stays in this state with throttled stable textures. Just waiting at the very least until we get more assets on the HD, which is inevitable. So simple aircraft with a bazillion trees.

Just tried another flight. Another runway that was supposed to be there, wasn’t so after 30 mins of trying to trim a GA plane and finding out ALT Hold doesn’t work in AP so have been wrestling with the controller, I find out the throttle won’t power down so had to crash land in a field near the non-existent runway.

Quality. I’m giving up on 2024 until next winter. Got far to much else to worry about in life than having wasted £120 on an arcade version of the excellent FS20.

MSFS 2024 exclusively. I only started MSFS 2020 since release of MSFS 2024 to check differences in scenery and view my controller settings. Visually 2024 is so much better, I can´t go back. With Fenix, CJ4 or Longitude flying is so good. Like for many others, with the last patch the loading times have increased dramatically, but I expect this to be fixed soon. However, no problems any more getting into the sim or into the plane. This sim has so much potential. Just missing my PMDG 737 and 777 and looking forward to the ini A350.

Truthfully, and this hurts to say it, neither currently, although I own both.

I mainly fly bush trips. 2020 now, I can’t get into the bush trips anymore. I want the 3D trees, I want the better visuals. So if I fly a bush trip now in 2020, what I used to be amazed by now I am not so much. I look at the 2D trees and the lack of ground details and I get disappointed and quit. 2024 on the other hand, we don’t have bush trips in yet. Its still a feature to be released.

I do see so many people doing career mode. I decided I was going to give that a try. But my HOTAS totally didn’t work at first, I had to set it up. And after I did, what I configured for rudder didn’t work (it was a known bug fixed last week). So I couldn’t even taxi. I gave up trying.

I spent all my time in sim in the last few years. I would love to be back in 2024, but right now until my bush trips are back, the only thing I do is purchase addons in 2020 on Mondays and Thursdays. For now, I have been playing games I was ignoring for the last couple years. Hopefully in February they release bush trips along with the WU for Brazil and I will be back in the skies once more.

PS: The real pity of this is I prepurchased months ago the MeganeX and the Crystal Super for flight simming, and I purchased a 9800X3D box that just arrived finally a couple days ago just for simming, and yet here I am not even simming right now and not sure when I will be.

  1. 24 doesn’t look real to me and it’s not the direction I wanted to see Flight simulator go.

I flew the FBW A320 last night in MSFS 2024 on Vatsim and it was fine
I also ported all my liveries over , it uses my Fenix bindings just fine so it does work with all my liveries using add on linker.

But to answer the OP’s question , my go to Sim is MSFS 2020 , I have a look in 2024 once a week but do all my airliner flying in 2020 on Vatsim (apart from last night - but I was testing the sim in Vatsim),

If we could have the night lighting from 2024 put into 2020 that would be great although I do still prefer the 2020 airport lights , even after the patch to fix the over exposed blue and Orb like lights , which in my opinion still look too cartoonish !!

I almost exclusively fly bush planes. I understand why folks who enjoy other types of flying are frustrated with certain aspects of 2024 but since most of those issues do not affect my preferred flying and the improvements of 2024 substantially improve my preferred way of flying, I am 2024 100% of the time. 2020 is uninstalled and I don’t see any reason for a simmer like me to go back.

MSFS2020.
I’ve not purchased 2024 as I will give it at least 6 months or so before I may consider it.

To be honest I’ve not seen anything in 2024 that convinces me to move over and delete 2020.

I Will be sticking with 2020 and all my purchased add ons for a good while yet :+1:

Same here. My game pass is up in mid January. At that time 2024 will be uninstalled and I have no plans to purchase it. I don’t like starting a flight at Albuquerque airport and the mountains in the distance look painted, as if I was in some kind of movie set. Unless that changes I won’t buy.

I’ve used 2024 ever since it came out. However, I haven’t been using it much until patch 3 came out recently and fixed the issues I was having with completing a flight successfully with the autopilot.

I have both installed simply because many of my addons don’t work with 2024 yet. Having said that I’ve been pretty content with the few that do and do find myself using 2024 more than 2020.

2020 only ! prefer fs2020. fs2024 was released too early. it’s not ready, too many bugs. the servers are not constant, not muscular enough. when fs2024 will be usable let us know

MS2020
I may purchase 2024 after the 4th or 5th SU, (just like I did with 2020) but not until them. I refuse to be an MSFS guinea pig/test-pilot. My time is too valuable.
But really it will only be after my 4-5 year hardware upgrade which should come due in 2026-2027.

2024
Everything else is uninstalled.
I am content circumnavigating the world in my Magni gyro.
When I am done with that I expect MSFS2030 will be available…
So far only John Lennon airport has been really bad… that was 2FPS or so when I landed… Roll on patch 4.

Most of the time I play MSFS2020, but my work also requires playing 2024 from time to time

Uninstalled MSFS2020. 2024 All the way.

2024, 2020 has been uninstalled after a good run with it.

msfs2020 . The new version of the sim, called msfs2024, added a tons of new bugs , and unreliable data streaming . When it works it’s good , but hard to actually complete a simple 30 min flight without problems . Major issue is the unreliable data streaming . The other factor is, for most part scenery/ground textures does not look any better , save a few handpicked spots where it does look stellar . LOD distance also took a big hit compared to msfs2020 .
