Soaring with the Trimotor

Seems like we got a new tow plane with the Ford Trimotor…

Pretty sure this is an error but it actually behaves quite nicely…

Just got a CTD about ten minutes after casting off the tow, so maybe not so nicely. I’ll try again…

Not an error. Using Trimotor as a glider tug seemed like a fun thing to do.

But with floats???

You should try this with the Schleicher K7, that would be historically more suitable
Even though the Ford was built in 1926 and the K7 flew for the first time in 1954.
Much fun to start this way  .

Great find!
But Shhh! I think we should stay quiet so Ms/Asobo won’t find out and fix that
or we should now demand implementation of a glider that is able to start from water - like Polish MT-1 – Wikipedia, wolna encyklopedia it would even match same aviation era

Trimotor has this advantage over MSFS Cessna tow that MSFS Cessna does a ridiculously deep dive/altitude loss when changing flaps - trimotor isn’t affect by this bug.
Sadly for K7 Trimotor tows too fast so it is easy to destroy the glider (I don’t like turning off crash detection).

Tried adding “isTowPlane=1” to the aircraft.cfg file of the AH Chipmunk which seems to tow the K7 in a well behaved manner…

I suppose you added “isTowPlane=1” (not TugPlane…)?

Ah yes, I’ve corrected that. Thanks.

Fixed now with update to the model…
