Sometimes I can see some soft shadows in the coastlines. Although the graphics are ultra realistic the shadows where the water meets the ground gives a cheap feel. Maybe is some feathered alpha channel.
Noticed this too. Hope this gets addressed.
Where is that first airport?
Can’t see it from that far out, but if you get really close your see there is no actual water covering the edges that’s why you get that edging because the water isn’t covering the ground below the see fully.
If you exclude the water further out from the coastline your see that the ground is green looking this is what is giving the shadow effect you mentioned.
Have fixed lots of this issue around the coast of japan with an add-on you just have to add water over those area’s where water is missing.
You will see in some places the opposite and the water is covering terrain that should be uncovered.
example here before and after:
The airport is Monastir Habib Bourguiba International DTMB.
So its a result of bad masking in some coastlines. I also saw areas that water is over the ground. I hope Asobo will address this issue.
Same issue here. The Alpha-mask i really an Issue for Asobo to fix.
suggestion for Asobo/Blackshark:
machine learning with
- water polygon overlay in satelite/air image
- detect color range inside watermask
- detect foreign colors too different to average image colors within water mask
–> those are small islands, rocks, etc. and should be masked out of water polygon - detect similar colors to average within watermask, outside of watermask (maybe using a max range of deviation, like 500m)
–> these are areas lacking water polygon
–> create water polygon based on raster pixel… and merge them together with the original watermask (if necessary)
