Software Update? - Relaunch Game to Update

I went to Profile > Content Manager and under Core Content it says Relaunch Game to Update. I’m curious, I re-launched the game, but nothing happens. Is there some other way to trigger the update?

Same thing here, tried a few restarts, still no update.
Maybe bugged as it’s a 96gb update?

Man, I hope they aren’t going to push 80+ GB updates. Seems like the core content package could be broken down. This reminds me of Call of Duty Modern Warfare with 50+ GB updates! It took long enough to download FS just for the initial install it was 2 days of downloading on high speed fiber in a major city in the US!

Content Manager is there to show what you have in the simulator. It allows you to remove some content that you may never use so that you can save space on some smaller hard drives. The Core Content is the sim itself. Therefore no way of checking the box to delete. The “relaunch the game to update” is just there for informational purposes. It informs you that “if” there was an update, the only way to update the core is to relaunch.

the core content is not updated through content manager but on startup.
And this is here to tell you so.

This does not mean, that there is an update, but to start the sim to see if there is.

Its pretty poorly setup if thats the case.
I dont recall seeing that telling me to restart to update until late this afternoon, why tell me to restart to update if theres no update there?
Imagine if Windows told you that every time you checked for updates and it says restart to update…theres no logic in that at all

when you start the sim it tells you “checking for updates”
the content manage is there to manage the content, not to check if there are updates…

I agree with you

I do get what you are saying, but we wouldnt need to have this conversation if it wasn’t for the way that the sim is badly explaining it.
I know the sim says checking for updates as it launches, but to then say restart to check fo updates, the first thing I thought was, oh, I need to restart to update.
It really wouldnt be difficult to change that.

Maybe in French it does say it like that

As an alpha tester, with the extra time with the sim I have had, I can well and truly say;

tis a bug not a feature

The first time I installed it, it said “up to date” for the core. Now a few days later, I get the “relaunch the game to update”. Of course, restarting doesn’t do any update.

I was hoping it would do an update because I keep getting crashes (of the program type!).

If I understand this correctly, Content Manager only indicates that a 79.8gig update is available and will ;oad if you relaunch the application, BUT there is no real update.

Looks like they pushed out the notification prior to actually providing the update. I THINK I read somewhere that today, 26 August the development team would announce a DATE for the update and not an actual update on 26 August.

Think I read here that this content manager update is scheduled for 27/8 - not sure if this is correct though.

The update is scheduled for tomorrow, 27 Aug, Thursday. Updates are scheduled to be on Thursdays.

As far as I am aware, its only announcement of update patch tomorrow and what will be included.

No it is not, it’s merely getting announced in the dev blog sort of update post they do.

Where can I find dev blog?

Strange - I get a prompt saying restart to update, but when I restart, it doesn’t update. This is today, 27/8/20 in the UK at 18:00.
The message is repeated, but doesn’t stop me playing…

I can’t see how it took you two days to download on fiber, i have fiber @1gb it took just about an hour to download.
