Solved: Cessna Caravan - Reverse Thrust Binding to Match 2020?

Edit: For some reason I had both “Hold Propeller Reverse Thrust” and “Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust” on the same button. Removing the propeller binding has fixed seemingly everything, though I don’t understand how that was affecting my throttle axis. I changed the binding to Throttle Axis 1 (0-100) before posting, and now changing it back to just “Throttle Axis” might have resolved that.

Whatever the cause, a binding of “Throttle Axis” and “Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust” seems to make everything work, for anyone looking for the solution.

Original Post:
Binding “Throttle Axis” to my throttle makes it so the bottom of the throttle axis is reverse thrust. I have no detents, so when I throttle back to descend I have no idea where zero throttle is. I also tried “Throttle 1 Axis (0-100%)” and it behaved the same. Does anyone know how to bind the throttle so it doesn’t go into reverse thrust at the bottom?

Furthermore, the “Reverse Thrust Hold” binding, while it does put the throttle into reverse, also feathers the prop completely, so you don’t get any thrust of any kind. I noticed this also on the Draco X, it’s probably a bug with the binding but wanted to see if anyone could make it work.

What type of throttle are you using? HC has a button on the bottom that has to be bound in order for reverse thrust.

Its a Thrusmaster TWCS. No button on the bottom, no detents or anything like that, just a potentiometer axis.

The button assignment you need is “TOGGLE THROTTLE REVERSE THRUST”

and different/better in 2024 is that you can engage it BEFORE touchdown (2020 only worked once wheels on ground was detected)
so … go to idle, hit the button and move your throttle up again to power into reverse. once done, go back to idle, hit the button, and you are back to normal thrust

Thanks, that’s what I used to use, but the concept of a button I could hold was intriguing. I don’t know why I didn’t try going back to it.

What about if you have a throttle with a reverse thrust locking detents like the TCA Airbus quadrant? While it works just fine with the A320neo for example, with clmb/toga/reverse etc, how do I get it to work with other planes with the C208B that has beta thrust? I thought there was an option for -100% to 100% but all I can find is 0 to 100%.

It wasn’t that the Hold Throttle Reverse wasn’t working, it’s that I also bound Hold Propeller Reverse to the same button for some reason. Edited OP and marked solved. Thanks for the help everyone.

The TCA has virtual buttons (if enabled in the device’s control panel software) which are pressed and held at each detent. You could perhaps use those somehow?

Good idea, but the throttle does not generate a press at min/max positions, only at the intermediate detents. Putting the physical throttle into reverse gets me as far as the beta range. I am having similar problems using the other throttle lever for the prop, as putting that into the reverse section does not feather it.
