[EDIT: I just moved the entire Sim to a dedicated drive. Easy. Problem solved! ]
My MSFS Community folder is beginning to load up the drive where I have installed the sim. And as more add-ons become available it will only get more crowded. My question: Is it possible to move the Community folder to another drive with a shortcut to it in the installation folder? I know this works for the X-Plane Custom Scenery, but I haven’t wanted to attempt it for MSFS, not being certain if it will mess up the sim. Any help much appreciated.
Get this https://flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker
Then put your addons wherever you want, organize them in folders however you like, enable and disable them at will. When enabled, a “symbolic link,” to the mod is created in the community folder. The game then “thinks,” that that’s where the mod is. When disabled, the link is removed.
You can also create Presets so that, if you’re flying only in England, as an example, you don’t need scenery outside England to load so you can have a Preset called “England only” or whatever.
In answer to your question though, yes you can re-locate the actual community folder and then tell the game where it is. I think to do that though you have to edit a file. I can’t remember exactly.
