There are at least two In-game settings that are not saved when I change them and restart MSFS 2020.
When I switch from DX11 to DX12(Beta) and restart MSFS2020 it has changed back to DX11.
Also when I change “Nvidia Reflex Low Latency” from “On + Boost” to “On” this change is also ignored and reverted to “On + Boost”.
I read some similar problems (and possible solutions) on this forum but none of them solved mine.
Note: When I change the "Usercfg.Opt’ file MSFS goes haywire after a restart. Only when I revert to the ‘original’ Usercfg file it boots without problems but still without the settings I’d like to adjust.
Semi off topic: I also tried to upgrade from DLLS-2 to DLSS-3 but no matter what I try I can’t get the proper ‘Admin-rights’ to change- or even delete this file. Even when I change the Administrator-rights which normally would give you access to locked files.
If you settings are not saving, then there may be a problem either communicating to the cloud or writing to the local usercfg file. Make sure the Xbox Services are running automatically.
In the Windows search bar, type “Services”
Select “Services”
Scroll down to the bottom. Double-click on each entry for Xbox and make sure none of those services are not disabled or set to manual. Set everything to “Automatic”.
For the usercfg.opt file, you do not need to change it. Just make sure that it is not read only.
I also changed the ‘UserCfg’ properties to “Read/Write” (unchecked read only). Give me a moment to reboot my Pc, fire up MSFS 2020, change the settings, relaunch MSFS 2020 and see if the changes are now saved. Brb…
Thanks @BoomUga ,
Probably the fastest solution ever. In other words, I can change the settings I mentioned in my topic. Strange the other settings can be saved even when the ‘UserCfg’ is set to read-only. On the other hand these changes might have been saved in another file (don’t know).
Anyway, thanks for helping me out on the two most important questions I had.
I don’t suppose you have a (simple) solution for my second question:
No settings were being saved and every time I started MSFS I was asked all the accessibility settings questions etc
Unable to update the base platform - the app would hang at the content manager page
In the PC XBOX app I was getting weird error messages about my Store Account not matching my Xbox account
The Xbox app and game bar showed me as “logged out” (even though I am using a MS account for single sign on) and attempting to login would flash a dialog up too fast to see and close it again, leaving you back at the main screen.
Root cause (in my case, anyway)
I used BloatyNosy to de-bloat some of my Win11 install and clearly I didn’t pay attention to the options under 6. Gaming as it disabled those key services.
