Brief description of the issue:

After resetting my PC and installing FS2020, I am only able to play sound through my monitor (which I have speakers hooked up to). This is only with flight sim, all other programs/apps on my pc work perfectly. Even when I go to Options ->General Options->Sound and change both the main device output and communication device output, the game just refuses to play through my headset. I also tried selecting my headset as the output on both windows and the game, and re-started the game+pc–did not fix the issue. I noticed that when selecting my headset as the output device in settings, sound will briefly play through my headset and then go silent.

I have updated all my sound drivers.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

  1. Select a sound device output other than your monitor or speakers on windows. 2. Boot up flight sim and observe no sound coming from headset, only from speakers.
  1. Go to options ->general options->sound and cycle through all sound devices. This does not switch the audio to the headset, only mutes the sound coming from the speakers

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

Using a RIG headset which wirelessly pairs to a USB which connects to the computer

Thank you so much! Found the problem. Somehow FS2020 volume was set to zero under Start Menu–>Sound–>Sound Mixer Options. If anyone else has this problem, be sure FS2020 is running when you go to sound mixer options.
