No, you’re right. But, if you’re planning to offer and you advertise, than you hope, long term, that it will bring you income. If asked about your product, you are not giving the answer in customer friendly manner, than you automatically fail because before you start selling your potential customers know, that your approach to them is not up to scratch. Therefore, if a developer is advertising, that they will sell, say Tu-144, that it sure is going to stir attention. said dev is than not giving updates, not answering questions or answers them in customer unfriendly manner, than they will not sell, ultimately, their investment is not going to return.
I would love to fly An-26 or 24, not as much 12, but I’d consider. Anyway, if someone advertises for the future, there are things they should expect, f.ex questions, potentially repeatedly, especially if there was no update for a long time. I have it on a daily basis. A lot of info people ask is on the website, but again, I want to sell, they want to buy, therefore I answer and if they are happy, they come and buy.
To put it into context sim related: There was Tu-134 in development, and the guy posted videos on you tube and so on, the project looked advanced. I approach him and asked (on you tube) if he would consider on release or later, to release version with english description for those, who don’t speak Russian he replied that english speaking devs don’t publish in Russian, so he doesn’t care about non Russian speakers. And if I want to buy his plane I’d better start learning Russian. The plane has not been released after all. Why? Because despite big interest from non-Russians there was little market for it.
My opinion on the matter is, that if we’re talking about rare, unpopular aircraft, which will potentially not sell well in “The West”, than you either mass produce like Virtualcol or, if you want quality and you want to charge a price for it, you need to make people like you before you sell. £20 is not much for 80% in The West, but it’s a loooot of cash in Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, Oceania, South America etc. That’s what I mean.
