Speed of simulation

During a flight, how to do to increase the speed of simulation, by 4 or 8, for exemple ?

It’s impossible ! You have to use the “go to” option (on the top bar), and you will be able to go to Take-off, Descent… you can choose any waypoint from your flight plan, but not increase the speed of simulation.

It’s not impossible, you just have to hit the key that the command is bound to. I couldn’t figure out the default one though, so I just bound them to + and -.

Side note: You can’t adjust the simulation rate with AI controlling the aircraft. You have to fly it by hand or engage the aircraft’s autopilot.

It’s also worth mentioning that there’s nothing to indicate what the simulation rate actually is. You might be able to use the aircraft’s clock, but even that can be a little whack at times.

Moin,
by default, you press the “r” key and then use “CTRL” plus “+” or “-” to adjust the simulation speed.
With the autopilot switched on, I would not set it higher than 2x “+”, i.e. 4 times the speed.

You Can also use web FSFS Companion. The “Other” button allows to change the sim rate.

Sorry, I meant Mobile MSFS Companion. The plus is that it displays the current sim rate. You can use it from tout pc brosser using localhost.

I use SPAD.neXt and I went so far as to bind a combination of the trigger button on my left yoke handle (Honeycomb Alpha) with the rotary knob on my Bravo to set the sim rate. Then after the INCR or DECR command is sent, it reads back the current simulation rate audibly. It seems to have gotten better after the last update, but the “simulation rate” is not always the same… Its usually “2.0” when at normal speed (referenced by clock in aircraft) but sometimes it might be 1.0 or 0.5

Hold down ctrl and R, then push + or - on the number pad, for 2, 4, 8 x normal, etc. Sometimes you have to hit ctrl/R twice. It would be nice if there was an indicator that showed the simulation rate.

You dont have to press ctrl and “r” - just “r”

The Increase and Decrease Sim Rate buttons were unassigned in my “out of the box” MS Store installation. Those settings don’t even show up in the Keyboard Options list until you set them. You have to search the options for “sim rate” to find them. Mine were blank, so I set them to Right CTRL+Num+ and Right CTRL+Num-. The Sim Rate increase/decrease started working after that.

When you tell: num, would you say: the key "verr/num " above left of the numeric keypad ?

The real question is how did not one dev suggest or act on putting in even the barest of text to let you know what speed your on… This is the real question.

I use SimRate Bandit. Sometimes it doesn’t work, but it has a very simple UI.

To return to normal speed is a bit of a faff, but the easiest way is to spam the reduce sim rate speed to the minimum 1/4 speed, then hit the increase sim rate key twice - first press to 1/2 speed and next press to normal speed. If you realy want to check, you can start the in cockpit timer and see if it is advancing at normal speed or not

Just the + and - keys on the Num Pad.

Once I got rid of my old MS Sidewinder, and got a Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS 1, all controls of joystick and keyboard and mouse set themselves up automatically.

I just count the number of times I hit + or -, up or down, but what is the cockpit timer ?

In most planes (all?) somewhere there will be a stopwatch or timer function. So you can start the stopwatch or timer and visually see if time is ahead/behind normal speed. Nothing too scientific!

Your system doesn’t function at all. The sim is totally ungovernable and unbalanced
