Spitfire Handling

From the initial installation, the Spitfire goes to fully nose up" irrespective of the control/trim positions. It is virtually impossible to fly this otherwise good aircraft. Any suggestions??

Thereā€™s a new update that came out 3 days ago version flyingiron-spitfire-1.0.2rc2.zip. please download and install this might fix the problem.

And make sure you are using the Modern flight model (not legacy), and make sure the trim is properly set. If you have the trim set to nose up, well, itā€™s going to go nose up. Not saying you are, but, just offering another thing to check.

I checked the trim, cog, fuel load etc before taking off. Iā€™ll keep trying. Thanks for the response.

Many thanks, Ill check and try again.

Are you using a joystick? If so can you please let us know what you have? My friend had a similar issue with his saitek hotas where one of the hotas rotary switches were mysteriously mapped to pitch haha.

I have selected ā€œModernā€ in flight model and the problem has gone away. The trim control now behaves as advertised. Many thanks

Learning to fly a www11 taildragger might help. The spit flies as per the numbers and it is a really good feeling to master it. Their is no problem with this aircraft. Two tips. 1 section down on the trim gauge for takeoff. Throttle up carefully with full back stick to 4 boost. Keep her straight and about 40 mph stick slowly forward to neutral. At 80mph 2 inches of stick back and she`ll lift off. 10 degree climb and gear up. Do NOT use flap for takeoff and try not to have a crosswind component. Straight into the wind. There you go. Get those huns.

Anyone else been losing power/speed randomly since the update?

Yes I have! Boost gauge goes crazy and RPM wildly fluctuate shortly after take off!

I canā€™t figure out why so many people choose to use Legacy flight modeling despite all the admonitions against it. Maybe theyā€™re converting planes and forget to change it back?

I think itā€™s that but I also think the legacy flight model has those adjustment sliders whereas the modern one has no adjustability. Maybe some people are distracted by that ?

I have had none of the problems with this updated Spitfire at all. The improvements are subtle but meaningful. It MUST be flown with the ā€˜Modernā€™ flight model selected

Saitek X56 - but the problem has gone away now that I am using ā€œModernā€ flight model

Sounds like youā€™re overheating your engine. You canā€™t leave her at full throttle + RPM anymore!

Have a look through the manual, we have the operating limits on page 22.

Regarding the trim - yes, the Spitfire must use the ā€œModernā€ flight model.
