Squawk code is set automatically when confirming IFR clearance

Brief description of the issue:

I start at parking and request IFR clearance from ATC. ATC tells me instructions and a SQUAWK code. I’m confirming the clearance and at this moment transponder turns itself on and assigned squawk code is set automatically. This should not be that way. I want to turn the transponder on by myself and set squawk manually

You can. You have to manually type it in before acknowledging Clearance Delivery. If you mistype it, ATC will later call you saying Xpdr fault, reset.

Sure I know. That’s how I do it. But I’m sure that in real life transponders don’t turn themselves on and set squawk automatically :slight_smile: It is a clear bug in my opinion.

It’s not a bug, it’s a convenience step, just in the same way that the COM radios auto tune in sync with ATC directives on freq changes. It’s intended.

A bug would be the radios switching but the display shows inaccurate frequency.

Setting the transponder code automatically is a feature designed into MSFS. This is probably a better Wishlist item to remove this feature. There are many features in MSFS that are not identical to real world.
