Stars : Night sky and constellations in question

Hello,
I think the constellations scale are not correct.
In real life, the angle between major stars are wider.
Despite real stars represented in the game, i think the constellations are “shrinked” in some way…
Anyone (knowing the stars) noticed this ?

I suspect it might just be virtual lens distortion. The stars look fine to me. The two constellations I know best are the Big Dipper and Orion The Hunter - or as I like to call it, Orion, The Harbinger Of Winter. Both look right to me during night flights.

As an amateur astronomer, as well as a veteran simmer, I am so totally impressed with the job Asobo has done with the night sky that I may just do some of my astronomy work “in sim” and make my notes from there. If you have any doubt about the accuracy of the night sky, take it from me that there is really as much detail and accuracy as you could expect in this simulator - and it is as good as it gets!!!

I’m glad you said that. I am NOT an avid astronomer and was actually quite impressed you can see some of the constellations while night flying.

Agreed on the sky, you can legit navigate with it, I think it’s amazing, and yes what you’re seeing is more perspective distortion than anything.

I"m fond of astronomy myself, that’s why i raised this point. :grinning:
Yes, that is really cool to have a realistic sky. I agree with above comments about some kind of distorsion.
After looking in deep again, it’s not that obvious tho… in northern hemisphere, taurus constellation looks only a view angle of a few degrees, in real life its at least 5-8 degrees.
What we have is fine, but i was just wondering…
