Start Flight from Last Location

I am in complete support of this! Please Make It So!

Can’t this be fine through log book? I’m sure there’s a option for fly this again or something like that although I’ve never tried it to see what it does?

Well, it just lets you re-fly the last trip you made. So it starts from the last starting point, not the last landing point.
Pretty sad that two and a half years later there’s still no little checkbox “start from last location”insight like there has been with FS X… :frowning:

Some monhths ago I posted this solution.Haven’t used it for long time so you may check if it’s still working:

“When you land at an airport or on the grass wherever you like, press “esc” and SAVE the file .
Then,on a later moment, from the Worldmap ,you resume this saved file . You will start from the exact point you left the plane before. Thus, the drop-down menu ,on the top side of the screen, won’t be activated.”

Edit : I’ve just loaded a saved flight and verified that the drop-down menu is actually working fine.

I never used this because you couldn’t change fuel nor weather. Is this fixed now?

You can change fuel not weather. If on the original flight plan you choose Live Weather then you get it in the resumed file.Unfortunally you cannot change Time either .Overall not bad for my needs ,

Once it’s loaded can’t you just get the weather tab at the top in toolbar as you can normally?

Yes ,on the toolbar /drop-down menu you can get all the icons working as usal apart from the weather/time ones which appears greyed / unchangeable. This is my experience.

Seems silly not being able to change them or switch aircraft for different legs as well would be good.

I agree with you.Wonder why they don’t make this change.I can’t believe that’s a technical issue,maybe it’s just a matter of time.They have many thins to do…

I use sintoolkit pro and it shows me where every of my planes is located

Does it save the aircraft state, too? I remember that if there were no parking spots then the aircraft would load ready for takeoff with the engines running even If I left it C&D.

I don’t know why there’s no “resume last flight” option. I’ve been an Xplane user for years, but was tempted back to MSFS by the fantastic graphics and scenery. Resume Last Flgith is one of the first menu choices you get. Fantastic for world tours or circular sectors. You just boot up, select this option and there your aircraft is, right where you left her, in the same state. You still get all the options ot change anything through the “flight configuration” menu, but you don’t have to. Jst fuel her up, kick the tyres and light the fires. Why can’t Asobo do the same thing?

I did some trials on DC3 parking the plane on the grass by the runway .My results:

  1. If I park and leave/save the plane cool&dark, when I resume it it’s in the same C&D conditions .
  2. If I park and leave/save the plane with the engines running, when I resume it it’s in the same conditions…engines running.

In both cases the dropdown weather/time option is non changeable unfortunally.

When you come back, does it start at the same hour/minutes you left it, or does it update to the current hour/minutes?

Well, good question.Unfortunally I forgot to check it . I asked myself the same just after I saved the trials flights. Next time I’ll verify what happens because I have a plan to do a sort of bush round trip with a C172 and fly one leg of about 1 hr a day.So it’s important to know if the cockpit clock is adding up the leg flight time or reset it to actual ,each time. Not being able to adjust the weather/time on the dropdown menu I might start my first roundtrip leg in the morning and arrive at my latest ones at night!!

After all the time passed from release to now, I’m really curious to know if any of the developers are actually aware about that and if there’s no good / comfortable way to implement the button into the Sim due to online / live functions idk…
I’d love to have an official response if there’s a way to bring that function back to life.

I did some additional tests by flying with a Cessna C172 G1000 and these are my findings:

  1. Started by choosing a departure airport (with Atc/tower) from worldmap without setting an arrival airport) . Also set Live weather / Real time.

  2. Once you’ve taken off and decided to land on a nearby airport (provided with tower and atc too) you can contact the ATC from the dropdown menu and engage a flight following until landed.
    Save the flight.

  3. Then, when ready for the next leg , from worldmap you load the saved flight and hit “Fly”.

  4. At this point if you select the “weather” icon from the dropdown menu you will notice that the popup is greyed .The “weather” setting is still set to “On” while the “realtime " setting has ben moved to “Off” by the sim . The fact is that the “watch” inside the cockpit was stopped when the flight was previously saved and started to run again when reloaded. So then " Time” is no longer synced to the realtime and,if you do many flight in sequence, the watch keep adding the flight times. This has to be taken into consideration because you may start the first leg early in the morning and end-up at night on the latest.

Interesting is the fact that the “weather” is still synced to “Real weather” so you can appreciate the changes ,if any, when you do different flights in the row .

  1. If you land on an airport that is not provided by tower/atc then on the following fligth , you cannot have a dialog with any Atc…obviously.

  2. Logbook : if you do ,let’s say, 10 flights in the row then the logbook will log all of them as starting from the first take-off airport and landing on the airports you have actually landed.

  3. Avionics is running fine. Didn’t notice any problem.

Overall I am satisfied with the dropdown menu and hope the devs will fix the “time” issue.

Thanks for taking the time and do all those tests.

This is not something that I do or need but it is still great to see someone do a good, thorough test of functionality and report it well. Kudos to you
