In all honesty, what bothers me most about the walkaround is not that it exists, or that it’s actually pointless since there are no failures you can pick up, it’s that it’s done using the utterly clunky avatar mechanism.
Give me a way to, say, skip to each point in the walkaround with a key / button press, and be focussed on the item concerned and able to OK it with a single key / button press, more like the A2A version, for example, and I’d be a lot happier. I’d still want it to be optional though.
Or, you know, have the co-pilot avatar do it for you. It would be quite fun to sit in the cockpit watching the co-pilot walking around the aircraft checking things and removing covers. But that’s a level of character animation well beyond what the sim can do now.
Given the state of the art in terms of character animation, the avatar stuff is crude at best.
