Why does that occour? Im using the Oslo Gardemoen airport from flightsim.to, but it happens randomly on other airports as well: selecting to start from a parking or ramp, but ends up with engines running on runway… Last time it was with the JF Piper 28, but I dont think that matters…
Hello,
I think you may be experiencing a known bug where if you change aircraft after choosing your parking spot, it puts you on the runway. The bug is still open, but as a workaround for now, if you switch planes, you can just re-position yourself in the parking spot and it should work.
It can also happen if you change the time as well. Best bet is to recheck location as last action before selecting Fly.
Another related ‘gotcha’ is when you import a SimBrief-created PLN file and try to change the departure from a runway by clicking on the world map instead of selecting a gate from the dropdown menu. Sometimes, it starts on the runway or at the gate, but with the departure information gone. It’s like a mini-game. ![]()
Nope. Not using simbrief, nor have i changed aircraft after selecting starting point. Seems like I only (almost) will start from runways, even though I have selected parking.
try this:
Select an aircraft, livery and then fuel/load.
Now select the departure ramp/parking in world map.(and then arrival, flight type, waypoints)
Then hit fly now.
Could it be airport related or does it happen everywhere you try? (You said this already, just wondering if you try something like KSFO if it happens as an Asobo one)
Do you have any other ENGM’s (e.g. from Orbx)? In Content Manager is it the only instance of that airport? So uninstalling/disabling others etc.
If you use GSX have you done the ‘Exclude 3rd Party’ thing so you don’t get duplicate gates?
(just throwing stuff out there to try, could be a bug of course)
It’s doing it even if you don’t change planes or livery or use an imported .pln or whatever.
I strongly suspect it is related to the work Asobo did in SU12 on the Zoom To Details function in the World Map. Something there bugged the starting point recognition.
I find it is not 100% repeatable and never happens twice in a row, so took some time for me to realise it wasn’t user error on my part.
So its doing it even if the last thing you do is check and reset the starting location to a stand?
I have also found that sometimetimes, both a runway AND a parking spot is selected, even though I have not selected a runway, only zoomed in to details. I though this was the problem, but Ive had fligths when it worked with last selected (but both should not be shown with the white squares with info about rnw, parking etc? Something feels off. Might be last SU or someting, but this is happening to me quite often.
I’ll have another look into it tomorrow.
before choosing the starting gate, if you need to change the weather or the time or anything else, you have to do it first and last choose the parking gate. if you do the reverse you will end up on the track
Thank you. I will look into it. Is this a bug, or a “feature” ? ![]()
Correct. Often all I do is zoom in and select a parking spot and press fly as I’m using the same aircraft with live weather. So no need to alter anything in the menus. Sometimes it’s ok. Sometimes it puts me on the runway.
I think it’s a bug. For me, it works by doing this.
SU14 beta seems to solve that issue.
I can chose a starting point again and it is shown in the dropdown menu.
I still have the issue in SU14…
I haven’t been using msfs for like 6 months and I was hoping that it would be fixed… but what did I expect really ??
As mentioned by N316TS in a post above (also contains a workaround), this is a known issue (see below) and fix is not coming in SU14 release notes.
