Steam download paused to add airport to MSFS - can't find it to resume

Hi, I purchased an enhanced version of an airport in the MSFS 40th Anniversary Sale using the Steam Platform and accidentally hit the cancel button today after being prompted by Steam to download it. Now I don’t seem to be able to find it to resume the download. Can anyone suggest where it would be please?

MSFS 2020 is on a Windows 11 - 64 bit desktop PC. Mandatory updates have been added.

Many thanks.

Go into Profile>Content Manager and see if it’s there to download. If not, search for it again in the Marketplace.

Thanks NJFlyer606, I had a look in Profile>Content Manager earlier (on MSFS) but it wasn’t there. I also looked in the Marketplace, but the only option there was to pay for the update again.

I’ve also got onto Steam on their Support Page and verified the information that they wanted, but nothing further heard since doing so.

I assume Steam shows a purchase then, but the Marketplace doesn’t reflect that, correct?

Yes, that’s right. It says I’ve used the purchase and so it can’t normally refund.

I just assumed there would be some sort of a product key that would enable me to restart the download, but I can’t see one. I then thought that if it had started it must be lurking around somewhere in Downloads but can’t see anything there either.

Your best bet is to contact MSFS support, they may be able to help you.

But in the future, I’d avoid making any purchases through the Marketplace if possible. It’s very wonky, doesn’t provide receipts, and updates to add-ons take a long time. It’s better to buy thru third parties or directly from the developers.

By Marketplace, I assume you mean directly from the Marketplace page on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Welcome page? i.e. the one in the game.

Or do you mean the Steam Platform where I got it from?

Yes, that’s correct. I’m not sure what you purchased though Steam because you can’t purchase add-ons like airports/planes/etc directly on Steam.

Unless you’re talking about one of the premium versions of the sim, like Deluxe, etc.

OK thanks. I’ll just have to wait and see if Steam come back to me and either resolve it or offer a refund.

Thanks again.

Many thanks for your reply NJFlye606.

For clarity, I used the Wallet facility on Steam to pay for the enhanced version of the airport.

In case it helps anyone else, the following may also be helpful.

I reached out to Microsoft for help in resolving this at the link that you kindly sent me and quickly received an email back acknowledging receipt and asking me to double check everything asked for, was there. They also asked for “…a screenshot of the Steam Wallet Receipt (.PNG or .JPG format) OR a copy of your bank statement that proves that the funds were withdrawn.” which I sent.

MSFS Support came back to me within a day saying that unfortunately they didn’t have a record of the transaction and offering a refund. They also added that I’d need to copy their email agreeing to one to Steam. They further advised that to prevent the same thing happening again, if using Paypal, to “…add funds to the Steam Wallet 24 hours prior to purchasing from the Marketplace to ensure that the transaction is processed by Paypal and Steam at the time of purchase.”

They then went on to say:

"If you’re paying with a bank card
• Close Microsoft Flight Simulator
• Add Funds to your Steam Wallet with the payment method of your choice
• Wait a few minutes then launch Microsoft Flight Simulator
• Go to the Marketplace, and purchase your content with the Wallet Balance

Alternatively, you can purchase DLCs directly from 3rd party platforms such as Aerosoft or SimMarket. If you do, the packages must be installed in the Community folder."

Hope this helps.
