When I was on Beta I had no issues with downloads/updates and so forth. I went ahead and purchased on Steam and I have had nothing but issues with download speeds, install issues and so forth. I have requested a refund from Steam and this will be interesting. It says I played for 7hrs, 7hrs is the time it took to do multiple download attempts and pulling hair our of my skull. It never downloaded fully, thew max I got was 15 GB…
What was meant to be an enjoyable experience has turned into a horror story, thanks STEAM!!!
Now I have to wait for refund (if they give it) so I can purchase through Microsoft Store.
The downloads are not coming from Steam, only the initial launcher. The download of 90+GB that is done with SFO in the background comes from MS and is the same regardless of whether you purchased on Steam or the MS store.
Won’t make any difference, steam delivery is a tiny file the other 100gb is from Microsoft
I was also in the Beta and had no problems with the Steam download, looked like it actually came from MS.
Then why do gamers recommend to buy in Steam?
Because Steam interface is better than the Xbox app, and also because most of them act as fanboys.
Hmmm, thanks.
Most “normal” type games utilize Steam as the distribution mechanism and use the Steam servers for updating/patching, etc… since most publishers don’t have the infrastructure to do it themselves. Since MS has Xbox and their Azure Cloud infrastructure to do the distribution, they went ahead and used it which is why the sim itself manages it download. I bought via Steam just to have everything in one place.
