I have the Steam version, which I know requires the Steam client to also load when starting the sim. This is the first time I’ve seen Steam unable to login, but I didn’t think it would be a big deal. I just used Steam’s offline mode to load the sim.
Once the sim loaded to the main menu, it also has me in offline mode. When I try to switch to online mode in the options, it soon kicks back a no internet connection notice and no online features are working.
The thing is, my net is otherwise working fine. I can access all regular websites without issue, and a speed test shows I’m getting normal speeds up and down. So is this normal for MSFS to go offline due to Steam? Other than validating the licence, I don’t see what else would be needed to be able to fly with all features activated. I wouldn’t think a connection to the MSFS data servers would be that dependent on a third party program, but is it?

I just got the Unable to Sync error from Steam. Looks like they are having issues.

mine went offline about 15 mins ago, seems it down on MS end.
Oh shoot. I thought it was my sim. I reinstalled the sim and the issue is still there
Well I’m back online in Steam, but the sim is still showing offline. My original question wondering if Steam being offline could cause the sim to be offline is still up in the air I guess, but now I’m wondering if it was coincidence in this specific situation where both are having independent problems.
I am also having issues. Marketplace unavailable and offline in sim. Steam version
Ye me too. same Steam Version.
Yeah same here… Also PMDG planes seemed too have stopped working because of it
After several tries, it finally connected and started an update.
Well while flying around and checking out all of that wonderful offline scenery, I’m now fully back online too. Weird.
Is it different servers on or off? Im definitely still offline.
It was working and now it’s gone again
Does anyone have online services working? I feel like this site is usually more active when this sim completely goes offline.
I am having the same issue with Steam! The Sim doesn’t start or if it does it’s offline and all the settings are pretty much gone! Hope Steam fixes this soon! I believe Steam has been having online issues recently since during last week’s flights I have had to go offline and then online in the “Data” tab to get the tiles moving!
The Sim loads at times but the settings like “Assistance” settings are set to default parameters and have to change them individually! Can’t select true to life, etc.!
There goes a nice planned Sunday evening with MSFS! Thank you Steam!
I have quite a few games on Steam. Lately they have been having issues with their servers. Probably for the past 3 weeks or so. Hopefully they sort it out soon. I have the MS Store version of MSFS2020. But like I said I have many Steam games that at times I can not access due to Steam being down.
Bumping this thread for this just happened again. Steam has server issues and starting MSFS in offline mode doesn’t allow me to use MSFS online. Why should this be a problem?
