SteamVR Problem

So I have a 2060 I7 10700 64GB machine. Got it through the Microsoft store. Had a Q2 and now the G2. Love the G2. That’s not the issue. Downloaded the Steam Vr and been playing around with settings etc. When i go into Vr Steam mode it really lugs the Sim down plus my desktop as I’m trying to get the sim going is in slow mode. And have reduced settings to the point where its poor still. When I was running FS without SteamVR it was really good. I had it once in SteamVer that was good but somehow lost it. Now its a pain getting into the sim Vr as when i fire up the headset app and it connects the main screen before you get into needing it for the sim the Home Screen using Steam VR is all over the place. Wont settle down. What’s causing this. Is SteamVR too much for my machine. I’ve read all kinds of posts but there is so many with different combinations I get lost in it all. I’m ready to trash the Steam. What’s going on.

Then switch back to OpenXR. It is as simple as opening WMR portal and click on the “fix” button that appears telling you the WMR portal is not the default OpenXR app. No need to uninstall SteamVR either, it will just switch.

Sounds easy enough. I’m thinking too hard I guess.

Just looked here in WMR portal. Nowhere to click on a fix button

This is what WMR portal looks like when SteamVR is the default app for OpenXR, then you click “fix” to change it back. Are you not seeing this message?

If you have the OpenXR developer tool installed, it also informs you if WMR is not the default OpenXR app on the home tab and gives you the option to change it there. I don’t have a screen shot of that one though sorry, but I did see it once when I was switching between WMR and SteamVR to work out which one worked best for me (WMR won).

Morning. Ya, i didnt realize that WMR was already running. I did see that Steam VR was running once and i did have to do the fix it thing. So we’re all good here. Thanks. Another brain cramp day it was i guess. Too much other things going on. And yes MSFS does work better for me using WMR rather than Steam so I’m leaving the Steam alone.
