Still problem with icing

Landed a kord this morning, real life temp at 39 degrees, look at the screenshot. Still an icing problem.

Hi @Mooney251,
It looks like SU4 will have some sliders for icing.

Turn on developer mode. Once this is activated there is a setting to scale down the icing effect.

Really? Thats good to know. Is it a permanent change, for all aircraft?

Keep in mind, if you’ve activated Dev Mode, the sim won’t log your flight hours…

No, it’s not static which is part of the problem. You have to hold the slider in place, but if you do that, then you can’t do anything in the cockpit.

SU4 should have a on/off for the ice finally.

I don’t know how long it takes for ice to melt from a plane IRL, but 39 degrees, while above freezing, is still fairly cold in relative terms. Most household refrigerators are 37 degrees on average, and if you put frozen food in there to thaw it out, it still takes several hours. If you spend a decent amount of time above 25,000 feet, the air temperature can be around -50C, so I would imagine that the airframe is still going to be very cold even after descending to “warmer” altitudes, which will help keep that ice fresh for quite a while.

I see the same thing on my car, and I’ve gone out in the mornings when it was around 36 to 38 degrees, and the ice/frost that formed on the windshield during the night is still not melted and I need to scrape it off before I can drive away.

Of course, that’s all assuming there’s no anti-ice equipment for the airframe on the aircraft, but I don’t fly any of the big jets in the sim, so I wouldn’t know, but I have noticed that ice seems to linger for an unrealistic amount of time on the TBM, even after landing in 80 degree weather, so yeah… the icing effect still needs some adjustments.

Wow that explains alot of missing hours. That is good info. Thanks

nope not permanent. You will have to turn on developer mode each time you wish to make the change.
