So, I’ve updated successfully and everything is great.
Only, the windows store update to the FS app takes forever. Like 90 minutes for 1.05GB
But then the sim side update completed in less than 10 minutes, downloading 3.5GB.
I’ve noticed this issue with other windows store apps as well. And this is always the case since day one for FS, which as it turns out is the first time I ever actually used a windows store app.
Could someone, if they know, help me to resolve this please? Am I missing something? Internet speed and bandwidth remained constant. I was the only one on the home network for the duration.
Noticed that in the previous update ! It varies, maybe day by day. Last time with 1.15.10.0 there was a 1Gb store update too, I got the download with 3-10Mbps. Zzzzzzzz… This time it gave me 48Mbps, as expected. But the final 200MB ran ca 10Mbps again. It just slowed down.
Guess this has to do with traffic over certain servers. When too many clients are connected, these limits kick in. Updating MSFS on a tuesday (working day) Microsoft also hopes people will download on wednesdays, thursdays as well… spread a bit. On tuesdays… MSFS traffic kicks in. Petabytes of it.
Store updated behind the scenes without my even knowing this morning. Which I guess is fine, I prefer to do updates myself so I can see what’s going on… which is a good thing because…
when I tried to update the app, it kept getting stuck, I had to kill FS 4 times. I couldn’t tell what it was stuck on the first time, then it got stuck updating the A320, then I couldn’t tell again, then the DA62, and then once it got to the main files it blew through it. It was fine on download at first, then it just kept repeating a line… When I finally realized what was going on (I think I let the first one go 20 minutes before I realized it was stuck, (I was just browsing with it in the background)), I’d kill it, then it would go really fast till it got stuck again… kill it, update really fast, get stuck… finally finished.
I had the same problem trying to update the Seminole a couple days ago. The first time I tried to update it a couple months ago, I, like everyone else, had to delete the package before it would update. Then, the same thing this time. Funny thing is, the other three Carenado products I had with updates went fine.
Thanks everyone for your responses, but I am convinced it’s some kind of configuration or Windows issue at my end. Because this is constant with all windows store updates all the time. Whereas I do not have any issues with anything else, including windows updates. The only other thing that behaves like this is MS Office updates taking up to 5 hours to perform a simple 1gb or so update.
Hoping someone with any idea what the issue could be could help.
