Let’s talk about the weather system in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Many of you may have seen hurricanes in the sim, but what about an explosive cyclogenesis? Also known as a “weather bomb”. This happened on the 23th of November, which resulted in storm Bert. Prior to Storm Bert, two exceptionally deep low-pressure systems developed over the North Atlantic, creating a perfect setup for explosive cyclogenesis. These systems caused a rapid drop in atmospheric pressure, with one area recording a decrease of nearly 40 hPa within 24 hours. This convergence of low-pressure systems intensified the storm’s strength, generating severe winds and heavy rainfall as Bert moved towards Europe. This rare combination of factors made the storm particularly intense and destructive.
