Where the updraft occurs is dependant on storm mode. The diagram above is akin to a squall.
It does seem that storms don’t really have the effect that you would expect them to. You can fly through them and experience near to no turbulence.
I would think we will have to wait for a company like REX to come along in order to simulate something close to real CB’s. Hopefully they open the weather system up for developers.
