The other day I was flying my plane ( Carenado Pilatus PC12) towards Chicago. I walked away to made some tea and when I got back the screen said “Microsoft Flight Simulator has stopped working”. This is the first time I have seen such a message when flying. I was on auto pilot and flying a course of 270 degrees at 3000 ft. There was nothing else running in the background and it was clear weather VFR.
Anyone else seen this or know why it happened???

There are a large number of reasons this can happen, so it is hard to say what caused your issue.
This is not an uncommon issue, and it can be quite random.
Other than being terribly annoying, I would not be too concerned, unless it regularly happens.
If so, there are help articles for this available in the “Support” tab at the top of every forum page, and a search of these forums will show lots of posts on this, these can contain some good advice on diagnosing/ solving the issue as well.
