seems so I’m turning off the computer so much for MSFS 2024, they need to rename it MSFS 2025, doubt any of us will play this year ![]()
The first challenge is just there to wind us up
ps. go look in the XBox app to see all the challenges -
EDIT: in the summary screen it says “only 7% of gamers unlocked this”, so 7% of users have maybe got in?
For some light entertainment, I asked Copilot (ironically named at this point) to generate me an image of a retro thin client running MSFS 2024.
This is what it gave me. Reminiscent of the last thin client I used, an IBM terminal running AS/400. I’d gladly take it at this point! ![]()
Somehow I managed to complete that despite never even taking off. A few hours ago, when I got in and found most of my planes missing, I did spawn into the MAX at JFK (only to have an AI 767 taxi right through my plane). But for messing around in the plane and not even flying, I got that achievement, ![]()
“Only write here if the solution doesn’t work for you” - Yeah! It doesn’t work for anyone, most probably.
Offering things like “reboot” if Windows 11 is the most stable OS the world has ever seen except for Linux, MacOS and all others, is a little confusing. Do you think the servers will be working after this restart?
HISTORY:
Downloading the game itself was lightning fast. Downloading the content of only 11.8 GByte took about 70 minutes on a very stable 5.000 Mbit sync business fiber line. That’s still acceptable.
Then: Stuck at 97%.
Restart #1: Crash to desktop after 4 minutes showing the initial loading screen.
Restart #2: Login “Too many users…” waited 10 minutes… 0%
Reboot doesn’t change anything. Of course not.
During all this, my RTX4090 is at 54% and 1.325 fps, eating up a whopping 230 Watts. I mean, during a wait screen!
Asobo, this is bs. You must have expected that high load, and you know there are AWS servers that can handle such a situation with ease. Oh, yes, you can actually rent them! Didn’t you know?
And if people say that other games had such issues, too: Well, not that I would know of. Which game? When?
1st hour? It’s been more than 4+ hours and it’s getting worse.
Ah, it that kind of award is it? Still lucky you I haven’t even seen a MSFS2024 AI 767 yet, count yourself lucky! ![]()
The other awards look on the epic side and tied to photography or career modes.
Yes, I think, we bought from Microsoft one of the world’s tech leader.
I know we all need to be patient and prepared not to have this game on day one, but please folks, rebooting your Windows will not fix this problem.
4h40m since launch. It’s bad but don’t exaggerate
4h40m is improper English. Posting improper English will not fix this problem!
Stuck on 97% for 3 hours. Restarted… now “Too many users are trying to log on” message. Yes, it’s an extremely high stress point in time, but MS should still have been prepared for it. They know how many pre-sales they had and that all those would be trying to play at the instant it was released.
I keep thinking that they must have had experience in preparation for simultaneous user accesses for other popular upgrades in FS2020 like the 40th anniversary edition etc. It’s strange. I’m done trying for tonight though, tomorrow is another day.
Lucky you. It’s not even 3 PM here. I’ll be banging my head against this stupid sim for another 6-7 hours at least before I give up. At least I have whiskey.
Only 7% managed to complete first flight??? omg…
C’mon guys don’t be so harsh. Microsoft is a brand and new trademark, it has just started and has never had a release before, or has there been hype over something it was about to release; they have no experience, and things like this weren’t supposed to be seen before they actually happened.
At least Microsoft has allowed us to pre-install the game before its release. Think about this advantage ![]()
