I’ve been flying MSFS through Steam since release in August 2020 with no problems at all. Tonight I started it up and I’m now stuck in the endless ‘Press Any Button To Start’ loop that prevents me from ever getting into the actual game. No matter how many times I press a button, it goes right back to that message. I’ve searched online and found several suggested solutions from the past two years; I’ve tried every one and nothing has worked:
- Sign out and back into Microsoft Store app
- Sign out and back into Xbox app
- Rename Community folder and create new empty Community folder
- Reboot
- Set MSFS to Run as Admin
- Verify integrity of game files in Steam
- Uninstall completely and reinstall
Has anyone else had this problem lately, and/or come across any other possible solutions? This is maddening.
I never see that screen because I added -FastLaunch to the game launch properties in Steam.
Right, I did too–although I thought that option simply skipped the intro videos, and there was a subsequent Sim Update that removed that screen altogether? Which would mean that somehow my game is reverting to an earlier version, even when I uninstall and reinstall the whole game?
However, now that I’ve slept on it, I realized that although I did uninstall and reinstall the game in Steam, I did not actually go in and delete the entire game folder that was created by the first install. Perhaps there’s something remaining in there screwing up the game. I’ll have to try that tonight.
Okay I just tried that now, and it did indeed work. No idea what caused all that but at least I’ve got it working now.
This will cause your downloaded packages to disappear. Don’t use that.
