Stuck in initialization loop after reinstall

After not using MSFS for about 5 weeks, it refused to complete loading. It would get to final screen; status bar would be full but no progress after that. CPU and GPU would be running full speed, but it wouldn’t get to main screen. Got a “not responding” once out of 5 tries.

I uninstalled and reinstalled from store.

Now it starts up, but it goes through the first run setup screens every time and will not save any changes I make to controls options or custom views, etc.
Basically unusable at this point.
Not found anything via google. Help!!!

In the past did you use the Google Map Addon?
If you did did you remove it using it’s uninstaller?
If not you will need to remove the Window’s host file:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc, remove host file, and restart pc
