Well I finally made it past the queue. Now stuck at 97%…
Just have to decide if/when to bail and try again.
I did this morning on my first load - took around 45 minutes but then I found most of my aircraft weren’t available. I made the grave error of exiting the sim and then spent the next 7-ish hours trying to get back in.
Around 6:30pm US Central time (I think?) I finally got past the queu and into the sim. I took a nice little flight around Chicago from KMDW and around downtown in the C152 before exiting the flight. I then flew from KLGA over Manhattan (autogen LaGuardia is indeed still La Garbage). Flew over and around Mahattan and then over to JFK.
Performance was good in both instances (50 - 70 fps, without framegen on my modest i7-11700KF and RTX 4070 Ti Super). Didn’t see super high network usage as it streamed stuff in, nor any huge storage R/W spikes to speak of.
The biggest issue was simply geting into the dang sim. Hopefully tomorrow I can spend the time I planned to spend this afternoon actually binding some controls and testing out stuff from my Community folder.
By the way. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 release in 13 hours ![]()
It might work sooner than that, it looks like they’ve got the issue kinda fixed so now it has to clear the backlog of people. Randomly worked for me starting at 5ish pm Pacific time, plays pretty nice with better performance on my rig compared to 202 (which is a fantastic surprise)
We queue up for many things - enduring the long discomfort and frustrations for things that have debatable value. Go to a Trump rally. Line up for Taylor Swift tickets. Purchase one of a handful of electronic devices on Boxing Day. Voting. This Sim, like 2020, will prove to be worth it. Right now we are home, close to snacks, beverages and toilets, dry and warm. Better than any of the above events. Let’s all chill.
oooof I hope it doesn’t run into Unreal PC issues… but it’s gonna run into shader compilation stutter bad isn’t it ![]()
Excited to see how the new Indiana Jones game turns out! That’s soonish as well
Cheers, but I don’t think I can wait till get in, because I heard after the queue it still need download & install a lot of things. And its about sunset in AK, don’t think I can play it by today.
I will say for me the download section was very fast, under 2 minutes. As long as the loading screen actually works, I wouldn’t be fussed.
Made it in to create flight plan, crashed on choosing my arrival ![]()
Back to Queue we go!
Well unfortunately I have spoken to soon, back to queue again
Same as always, “we under estimated”
Well if we take them at their word, they had no problems during the alpha and even simulated the system with 200,000 users and it worked fine. But today the load has been far higher than even what was simulated.
This is honestly why I’m a proponent of OPEN beta tests. Let everyone who wants in on stress tests.
it Loaded one time at 12:15am, looked at it for 4 mins and thought o i need my x52 drivers and stick plugging in so quit the game to desktop since then i am unable to login - it says to many users trying to log in… its 2:20am
MS u are so F****** Lame !
Welp. 6 hours at 97%. Rebooted. 2 hours in the queue. Giving up for today. Fortunately, I had other things to do all day while waiting for this to not work.
I paid a ton on money for them to plan poorly. I want an offline mode. Why preinstall if you are only going to do 12.5mb download? What a disappointment. Sounds great, but this is the definition of at scale and they haven’t a clue of what that means.
its clear they have not deployed any servers in data centre in Europe, because at 02:48h UTC I should not be spending hours in a queue or be dependent on what is happening on another continent in terms of player load on servers impinging on another continents ability to function.
My 2nd launch:
- 8:19 PM EST Login Queue
- 8:25 PM Activating Packages
- 9:19 PM (1 hr exactly) In
So after watching SpaceX do their thing I left Loading simulator 2024 in the background and waited 5 hrs to finally get in and do some set up. I went to reboot my system and restart the sim and right back into the queue. My question is are we going to have to jump in a queue every single time I want to get in??? If that is the case, MSFS2020 is looking real good right about now.
I know 100% great launch.
