Stuck on "Checking for Updates" MSFS 2020 (11 January 2025)

15:05 Saturday 11th January.

Sat for over 10 minutes looking at the INSTALLATION MANAGER telling me it was ‘Checking for updates’.

Too much traffic on the Servers. Waiting to get a slot.

All Europe, Africa, East coast USA, South America.

Size up!

It has been fine for me so far today

20 mins, got a connection.

Set up to start and no scenery being sent.

Switched down to made a cuppa.

In the UK.

FS2024 - 80FPS and stuttering continuously - stopped flying as it was terrible (ping of 29ms Western Europe)

FS2020 - won’t load - stuck at checking for updates.

Looks like the servers are the issue.

I cannot believe that MS have still not sorted server bandwidth and speed with FS2024 so dependant upon them.

Come on MS, sort out the servers or give users the option to download as current design is not working well (at times).

I put in a ticket about it. I’ve been trying for over 2 hours with no luck. That “minor” update released earlier probably did something it wasn’t supposed to do.

Same thing here on MSFS2020, trying to get in and initially was stuck on “checking for updates” for several minutes then it wants me to download a 0 byte update. Alt + f4 out of that and now I’ve been stuck on checking for updates.

With enough user support we should be able to solve this problem.

I’ve just launched MSFS 2020 and it’s “stuck” on “checking for updates”.

I’m in NW USA, please report your location to see if this is “global”. If so, we will escalate.

Same here - stuck Checking for Updates for about 10 minutes. I then disabled my network to skip past this step but about 5 minutes after that during sim loading, I had a silent CTD. First one in FS2020 in a very long time.

leicester UK. Stuck on updates then bandwidth error messages ms2020.

Same thing in Central US. Just finished a flight fine, but then loading a second one and going back into the sim - this same thing. MS2020.
