Sorry to bother but I’m having trouble installing MSFS after a reinstall of windows (was working fine before the re-install). I’m installing via the xbox app (I use game pass) on my Windows 10 PC, everything used to be fine but now it seemingly gets stuck during the 1st mandatory update, decompressing the package files. I’ve tried a few times to install it gets stuck at different points (sometimes 2%, 15% 18% etc.)
I’ve cleared out the package download and uninstalled via the xbox app then done a restart then try reinstalling. It does re-start with the update but it always gets stuck.
Forgot to mention I have enough space on the hdd (over 600gb). Can provide the specs if needed. Windows is fully updated etc. as is the xbox app.
Firstly thanks for replying but I have already checked the general support page and cannot find anything I have not already tried - was there something specific you were suggesting and if so can you link direct?
Hello, are you on Wireless by any chance or are you connected using a network cable? It’s obviously a large download so you want the best setup possible. Bandwidth recommended requirements are here:
I’ve managed to fix it. Below is the last few steps I took but I’m unsure if they did anything as there were a lot of “Just re-try till it works”. Before I go, ■■■■■■■■■■■ the installer is a mess:
When I opened Xbox app there was a new update
Uninstalled the game
Made sure that the packages folder had gone
Dropped my wifi down to IPv4
restarted (needed for IP)
When booted in closed every single program that was running that I could find, including the task drawer
Disabled windows defender
Opened the EXE as admin
Install.
