OK, I’ve made a few posts before actually introducing myself, I am a new player, started playing regularly a few weeks ago. Safe to say I am just learning but I wanted to say that this is an unbelievable game.
Yes I know there are glitches , of course there are, there are bugs in every game but they will be fixed. The sheer scope of this game is superb. I am loving it and even though I am a total beginner and while a lot of depth of the game is going to take some learning. Even finding where all the switches are in the 320 and 727 especially is a challenge!
So all I would say to people who are unhappy with certain aspects just think about the longevity of this game. The realism is amazing as highlighted by several professional pilots on YouTube.
This is a stunning achievement from Microsoft and long may it keep growing.
How about bringing back Microsoft Train Simulator next guys
Given the scenery in the flight sim, and the mechanics already implemented in the aircraft movement (for example during taxiing, or on the water), I think it would be easier for them to provide an add-on or two to run not only trains but also ships in the current simulator, rather than duplicate it in a new program.
Microsoft Train simulator was originally created by Kuju studios, and although MS intended to bring development in house for version 2, with aces studios, that didnt happen
Kuju went on to create Rail Simulator (renamed to Railworks), which then was taken over by Dovetail, renamed Train Simulator (TS), and its still being developed on and released. I do play it. Also there is Train Sim World (TSW and TSW2), which is more of a Simplified/Gamified version for more game users, rather than sim users, and as such is also available on XBOX.
Both are popular in their own rights (I have both). I dont see how the AI graphics engine can help much at the moment for TS, except maybe for “fill in” scenary (distant).
I would really wish that they include other simulators. Especially simulations from other developers, who in exchange would add more scenery, like train tracks, race tracks, landscapes and what not to the Sim.
There is way too much potential here to not use it.
Also scenery Addons to the game should also be used in Bing Maps itself, to improve it as well and make it a better base for the big Sim.
Thanks Sensei, I wasn’t aware of the connection between Dovetail’s Train Simulator and Microsoft’s one. I also have played Dovetail’s version for a good while. My only frustration with it is the lack of a Leeds Station loop, the busiest station in the UK arguably and its not featured apart from as an add on in Train Sim World which is back to 80s. The Leeds Doncaster London loop add on to MSTS was a great add on.
I am not sure if when you say “station loop” you are talking about a specific Track (just as a run around loop), or a scenario/route around certain stations, but there is a LOT of third party content for TS, including a lot of freeware, which may have the track and lines you need? Also its not that difficult to create your own scenery on TS, I have created my own track/station layouts using the scenery editor! (MSFS/ASOBO take note!!).
You can also quite easily create scenarios with station stopping pattersn, and waypoints as a\ challenge too, together with achievements.
The Loop was a series of 3 addons which eventually connected Leeds to London and allowed you to create your own routes etc. But ever since Leeds station has always been ignored, I guess it would be hell of an undertaking give the size of it and how many tracks feed into it
