I’ve been having this issue for quite a while now where the sim stutters during approach between 1000 ft and 500 ft agl. Before that the sim runs perfectly and after the stutters most of the time the sim returns to normal performance but these stutters always throw me off when I’m trying to land and so far nothing has worked to fix this issue.
Things I’ve tried:
- upgrading CPU/GPU
- lowering LOD settings
- turning off reymarched reflections
- keeping nvidia drivers up do date
all without result
I’ve been having a similar issue. I have a stable 45 FPS cruising but during take off and approach/touch down my game stutters like crazy. I haven’t found a fix, but let me know if you figure anything out.
I’ve tried some extra things like turning off photogrammetry and testing my internet speed but again no luck.
ive been seeing this too but only in the last few days
The stutters when approaching an airport or taking off has been going on for years, but it may be getting worse for some depending on settings or hardware or the phase of the moon, who knows.
I have noticed that the sim seems to be dragging a bit over the last few weeks. When loading after starting it and before reaching the main menu, the images seem to load in sluggishly, and when I click an airport to zoom down to it, sometimes I catch hesitation where I never noticed that before.
Do the stutters happen at every airport whether complex or simple? What about if you turn off all of the AI stuff (airplanes, cars, boats, etc)?
I’ve turned off all the ai traffic except for a couple of stationary airplanes at the gates and I’ve also increased the speed of the memory to 3200 MHz as per a tip from my local hardware store and it seems the stutters are a bit less but my screen does still freeze for a good second or so. The weird thing is is that during this freeze the percentage of my processor doesn’t spike but instead it goes all the way down and my memory usage stays the same more or less. I’m going to monitor my CPU temps next flight to see what that says.
Keep in mind that memory usage isn’t a metric for memory exchange. It’s just used ram / available ram. It could be that you’re working a lot with your ram without significantly changing usage (meaning using more available ram)
I’ve installed a program to monitor my CPU temps now and this is what I get (see screenshot).
I didn’t notice a peak during the final approach when I get the stutters but I feel like the temps are definitely on the high side but I don’t know if this could cause the stutters I’m experiencing.
