I just did this yesterday. My sim started getting about 3 fps in the main FS menu. Even worse once it loaded. I’ve tried everything. My internet speed is about 200MB/sec. My community folder is empty. Steam version. Same in VR or monitor.
Just now, I tried to see if it was maybe a network issue, and now I am getting this update page again. I just sat through 80GB of this yesterday.
What is the update and why am I getting it two days in a row? And what’s with all the stuttering and poor framerates all of a sudden? I’ve had the start-stop stuff since the France update.
This is in the patch notes. It says when exiting, but I’m pretty positive it’s causing more problems. So that could be the FPS issue
As for the update; because of the crash the path to your install is forgotten. Just point the launcher to your original install path (where both your ‘Official’ and ‘Community’ folder are located) and it should detect a full install and continue
I’m not getting any crash, and my install path is pointing to my packages folder in the appdata\roaming folder. If I start this download again (which I havent yet) , it will download and install properly. It’s just when I start the sim and get to the animated menu (where the globe is kind of spinning on it’s own) the framerates are horrible, and if I start a flight, they are horrible there also.
My nephew is staying here at the moment and he has a cheap laptop and MSFS2020, and everything is fine for him. He is not being pestered with any 80GB download and he has no framerate issues. My rig cost me about 5k and Im having these issues. Go figure.
Yeah everything is basically brand new and updated. I have good internet speed avg 200MB/sec. 32GB RAM, i9-10900x, RTX2080 Super. Ive had this sim since December.
That’s a decent spec you have, hard to pin point the issue but perhaps make a backup of your community folder and perform a clean install, that way you can rule out software if everything installs correctly.
FYI, I have edited your topic title to reflect a bit better what the issue is about. You can change it yourself by clicking the pencil icon next to the title if you want something else
Yes. I did exactly that, about three times. Never heard of that one. I mean, I knew it took a while to check the files, but I guess I didnt realize it required a full re-install after.
I just did an Nvidia update a couple days ago and it what I thought caused some freezing up issues, so I rolled it back to the previous version. Maybe that has something to do with it.
Thanks. I downloaded that driver and it seemed to have worked. No longer getting the poor framerates. But I am still back to regular stuttering. At least it is somewhat usable. Now, to figure out what happened to the ATIS at every airport. I suspect the stuttering is on Asobo’s end. If not, I welcome a solution.
Thanks, the driver link you sent me pretty much solved everything, even the stuttering seems to have gone away. Where do you learn about what driver works with what? I am really confused when it comes to display drivers and the Nvidia panel in general.
