Stutters on Approach on 4090!

Hey guys, I was just watching Emanuels latest video and I couldn’t believe my eyes. I’ll let you see it down here so yall can take your own conclusions.

HOOOOW, HOOW on Earth is it possible that running an RTX 4090 he get those demential stutters on approach, HOOOW ASOBOO!! THIS IS NUMBER ONE FIX PRIORITY!!! If he ain’t running that, how are we supposed to do it with our not TOP END GPUs? OHH COME ON. Its been 5 years since 2020 release and we are getting into the 2 months marker for 2024, haven’t you learned something all this years? THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE, I can’t stand this anymore.

VRAM stalled?

He is also sporting a 14900k.
That is pretty bad stuttering but he runs 4K and all ai traffic injected. IMHO Stutters are more related to LOD issues with the Sim in this case

I appreciate yall opinions about it as I am not that experienced on the intriquets of the sim. To me this is the hightest top end hardware and beacause of it it should run smoothly butter.

Feel free to change the title of your post so that it actually indicates what problem this thread wants to talk about. Like this it is just clickbite-y.

And perhaps you should also use more capital letters

If only MSFS was that simple!

Appreciate feedback, done.

14900K is not on top of the food chain and he is using addons that impacts the FPS performance on approach.

AMD CPU like the 9800X3D is the king of CPU when it comes to flight simming.

Flight simulators are famously resource intensive, way more than any other video game. There are a lot of calculations to do in flight simulators, so many that even with the fastest hardware on the market, if you turn the settings up to max it will slow down and stutter.

That is completely normal and to be expected.

My guess the strange stutters in the video would be to do with their LoD or add ons, their settings are probably causing too much to be needed to be loaded all at once when they are close to the ground.

As other people have mentioned, an X3D CPU such as the 9800X3D would probably alleviate these stutters slightly due to their massive cache. But even then, if you turn stuff up enough it will stutter

I experience these stutters only on Asobo handcrafted airports that are being streamed. Don’t have it on 3rd party airports stored locally.

Good point, it is mostly the same to me!!
There has to be something behind it, I can not stand saying that a 14900K is not good enough for running smoothly the sim.

I saw this when it released and couldn’t believe the horrific stuttering on landing. Surely there has to be something in existence that can run it? But combining the Fenix with all of the airport and traffic addons that he has will have to wait for 512Gb of RAM and an 8090 card

the issue is the Traffic Injection addons. Try the same landing without it and it’s fine. We should point the finger at what is the root cause of the issue.

Hello @ItsLafar

Thank you for your post! Your topic has been moved to the Install, Performance & Graphics sub-category of the User Support Hub

I sometimes experience horrendous stuttering on approach as well and I believe it has something to do with airports that are streamed. I don’t have these problems when approaching airports that are saved on my hard drive. But when I approach streamed airports, once you’re close, it manically downloads all the textures, and that’s what I believe causes the stutters.

(Another issue is that textures are often still not loaded when arriving at the airport, which completely ruins the approach. Therefore I would urgently request that Asobo allow the downloading of airports, which should also solve your problem, or at least make it better.!)

I am pretty sure he is running vanilla traffic injection right now. He hasn’t used any traffic addon for 2024 since its release.

I have done a lot of landing including the Fenix and MSFS 2024 and I never experienced stutter on final unlike MSFS 2020 which was every single time. I only using a 9700x / 4070Ti Super.

I’m on Xbox which has a completely different set of problems, mostly revolving around runways at arrival airports looking like you should have gone to specsavers. Was just weighing in as I was shocked by his video when I saw it being that I’ve been thinking of moving to PC hoping that it is the answer

In my opinion, the stuttering is caused by poor server speed / bandwidth when generating airport aircraft and objects.

Bigger the airport, more serious the stuttering.

I do not think there is much that we can do - I have a new high spec laptop and I have this problem.

MS / Asobo needs to fix / improve server capacity and allow us (soonest) to download airports and their associated dynamic / static traffic.
