So I joined SU16 from Xbox series X with rolling cache at 8gb traffic off, multiplayer off, photogrammetry on, vehicle, ships, various traffic at 0. I am the first to make criticisms of the simulator if there is to be problems, you will notice many times some of my posts where I point out the various problems there are on Xbox, especially after SU15 where the LOD is terrible and all the texture blurred. But with SU16 after doing a long flight I must say it is very pleasant and the graphics problem seems to be gone. I did a flight with the 320 neo v2 since the wasm planes don’t work, usually with the 320neo v2 I have terrible performance and everything outside is blurred, you can’t see taxi ways and the airport texture or vehicles don’t load. With SU16 there is no more this problem, a step forward has been made and now you can see taxi ways, ground signals, airport textures load(although maybe some vehicles ecc don’t load in heavier airports) no stutter or black screens. Obviously there is still room for improvement but we have to recognize that msfs listens to us and even if it takes time they fix things. For me this was what was driving me away from the simulator, the bad graphics, I didn’t appreciate seeing everything blurred by a simulator that should make you see the world beautiful, now we are moving towards the right direction, this is an update done right.

The photo with the 320 is from SU16. You can see that both the apron and the garage in the background can be seen perfectly. In the photo below however with the SU15 you can clearly see how the textures are missing and from the cockpit outside you see everything blurred. Even if I get close in SU15 everything remains blurred with poor texture, with the new update even from a significant distance you can see everything much much better.

Yeah but in SU16 you can’t even fly the plane that is in the SU15 photo…

Xbox series X
I can finally fly without CTD, unfortunately in su 15, during the last month I had too many ctd I think caused by bing map, I obviously tried all the existing troubleshooting several times.I fly mostly with A320 v2 that ,I think ,is the most advanced in simulation among those of vanilla sim. Now I just wait to be able to fly with add ons like PMDG that for now does not work with su16

This is looking encouraging, im wondering what the model matching is now like? Since SU15 on XBSX many including myself can’t see other aircraft correctly even when we own them and have them freshly installed

The photo with the airbus is with the su16, the photo with the 737 with the su15 to show the difference of how the textures in su16 are loaded correctly even at a longer distance. I am aware that wasm planes do not work but I think there will be a fix soon, it is a beta remember.

It may indeed be encouraging..
For now I can’t tell as I won’t sign up to the beta until WASM is working.
At the moment, without the ability to fly third party add ons - and test with them - like the ones from PMDG, Just Flight, Aerosoft and others, then reluctantly I don’t see how we can say SU16 is “much better on Xbox x”. It’s much much worse - in an unacceptable state in fact - if these third party aircraft can’t be used.
The truth is MSFS 2020 has been seriously broken/degraded in this beta and needs fixing if MS/Asobo want to get the beta under way with Xbox users. This needs to be an urgent item for attention.

Then why reply to a thread about su16s improvements if your not trying it?
There are also many many aircraft on xbox without wasm. We had to wait along time for wasm to be bought to xbox and products were available and functional without it.
My original question was directed at those who ARE testing SU16, not those looking to reneg its progress with no experience of it

In my case, XBoxseries X, I am simply referring to the fact that I could no longer fly without constant CTDs, lately in su15s, which at least I don’t have now on 16. I don’t know why I had these CTDs, I tried everything,..anyway, of course I’m waiting for the addon planes to be usable. I advise you, if you have no problems on Su15, not to move on to 16 now
I am not in the beta (but considering it as soon as WASM is repaired), but… I also see a huge spike in CTDs lately in SU15. Not sure what is the cause, but I do at least 2-4 flights per day in the PMDG 737 and have been doing so since the 737 came out on Xbox, and last 2-3 weeks are the worst ever in this regard.

I’ve spent lots of my time over the years testing beta versions of MSFS and evaluating them - in this case it’s essential for me to run tests on both WASM and non-WASM aircraft. Simple.
I know very well how MSFS2020 performs and it’s important now to evaluate it against mSFS2024. There’s a lot of work needed - and a decent first baseline is essential if we are to draw any meaningful conclusions.
Right, if they add wasm back and the graphic fidelity remains that’s great. But it could be that we are seeing better graphics simply because they removed a complexity (wasm). It’s not really a revelation if you are comparing a picture lacking wasm to one with wasm. Just saying, don’t get your hopes up…

I also test aircraft for many 3rd party developers. So you should know aswell as I do that any SIM BETA is going to cause unforseen issues with these products as its a SIM BETA. Its just part of the process of updating the base sim, there will be issues which are reported and worked around to create the final release version. WASM compatibility being one of the most common as especially with xbox it requires a support program to run it which will also need updating to the new sim version before completion. So my original statement stands that my question was directed to THOSE IN THE BETA, not those just slinging mud for the sake of negative feedback
Probably seeing better GFX performance as some RAM will be freed up by not running WASM.
Hopefully the new wasm support module will not leak RAM as the previous versions have causing LOD regression and CTDs

I hear what you’re saying but we will just have to agree to disagree. I am not “slinging mud for the sake of it”. I take testing seriously.
The absence of WASM for me means it’s not a valid test baseline as I suspect - but don’t know - it could affect general performance.
Same here, you can’t understand how many time I resetted my console , troubleshooting , but lately anything was usefull…at least now I can fly with a320v2 ,but then with WASM I really don’t know what will be.

But being a beta its not a valid base line for testing as the beta by nature changes. Thats why i dont tske part in beta as you cant tell product errors from beta issues. Its not a valid baseline until its the release copy. Any official product tester will say the same. Beta is by its nature a variable. You should notice this in your XPP test kit data
Perhaps I’m not doing a good job of explaining what I mean.
We’ve had WASM since SU12 (2023) I recall, so the point I’m trying to make is that this isn’t a feature or a nice to have addition to the sim, it’s become a fundamental part of its architecture, so if feels to me that without WASM, we are effectively reverting our evaluations to a pre SU12 baseline - effectively a different sim.
Understand you don’t agree with that but that’s why I talk about having a relevant baseline - all the fundamental parts of the simulator are there - I don’t care Iif a few features or avionics or visuals are screwed up, like you I expect that in beta testing.
That’s my own view, anyway..

I can say the same. I’m using it on the XBOX SERIES S, and the graphics look just like day 1. It’s truly a pleasure to fly now. The textures, the cities, the airport environment—everything’s back to normal. I repeat, it looks like day 1 again. After the updates, it looked terrible, blurry textures, horrible. Today, I can say I love flying again with these graphics. Last night, I took a flight with TBM and had no problems.
I hope that when the PMDG B737 is back in service, the graphics will remain the same

I am not part of SU16 beta yet as I am away from home but could it be that Asobo/MS is testing the impact of WASM on general performance? and maybe at some point they will add a setting to enable/disable WASM? Who knows.

For those a bit skeptical I understand that it is hard to believe with all the stuff that Asobo has ruined on Xbox but it really looks like a promising update for us Xbox users, ok there are no wasm planes but to me usually the 320 neo v2 runs worse than a 737 pmdg talking about performance, and also with the v2 everything around in su15 is blurry with poor texture so if I have a good experience with v2 with su16, I don’t see why things have to go wrong with a 737. We’ll see, though.
