SU2 Beta CTD issues - "AsoboReport-Crash-NNNNNNNN.txt" useful?

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Experiencing a number CTD at various points with SU2 Beta (both v11 and v12). I’ve noticed when the app CTDs, it creates a crash report in the LocalState folder and also keeps previous versions. Would these be useful to send somewhere?

Also, I see the team was asking for the fault bucket info for people who get a CTD immediately after pressing the fly button but in my case the CTDs are usually after a period of time. Would these be useful to report as well? For example, here’s the info from my last CTD which occurred after nearly an hour of flight and just as I was about to land:

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta?
No but I upgraded from a 3070 Ti to a 5070 Ti after joining the Beta.

While I’m not experiencing any stability issues with FS2020 (primarily using DX11) and the new GPU I can’t help but wonder if there are issues related to the 50 series that were not present with the 30 series? I’ve tried the oldest drivers that support the new card and the latest drivers but have stability issues in FS2024 SU2 with both.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
None installed.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Fly for a while in Free Flight with higher settings (Ultra) around a busier airport (i.e. KLAX).
  2. Observe the app CTD.

YOUR SETTINGS

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:
N/A

[PC Only] Are you using Developer Mode or have you made any changes to it?
Yes

[PC Only] Many issues may be due to an outdated graphics card. Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version:
MSI Nvidia 5070 Ti 16G Ventus 3X OC (GeForce 572.47 drivers but also tried the 572.83 drivers)
[PC Only] What other relevant PC specs can you share?
MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI mobo (A.K10 BIOS)
64G DDR5 memory
i7-12700K
Onboard Realtek sound (set to 24bit, 48000 Hz output)
Display 1: LG Ultragear monitor @ 2560x1440, 165 Hz (164.96) via display port
Display 2: Dell P190S @ 1280x1024, 60 Hz (60.02) via HDMI port
MSFS runs on Display 1 only; Display 2 used for other apps such as Task Manager
VSYNC set to ON in Nvidia Control Panel and OFF in game (also tried it the other way around but still experienced instability)
Low Latency set to ON in game (also tried Frame Generation at 2x but didn’t really seem to help in low frame rate situations nor improve stability)
Tried different monitor refresh rates from 60Hz up - none improved stability over the other but using 165 Hz gave the smoothest flight experience even though FPS during flight was in the 30 - 60 range depending on scenery and flight conditions.
Stock BIOS settings - no overclocking

  • as noted above seems very stable with MS2020 and the same game settings
