SU3 Beta Discussion Thread

On the topic of exposure setting, I find anything just below zero works great. I’ve tried -0.15 and all the way down to -0.25. To be frank, -0.25 looked brilliant and that’s maybe because I game on a QLED, those are already very bright from what I understand.

Anything over the 0 setting might be too much, or it may look really nice to someone who likes a bit of pop and flare to their graphics. Sometimes, keeping the exposore over the zero setting actually makes the external lights a little more visible during the day, somewhat. Still not as good as MSFS '20 though.

By the way, shouldn’t the next beta update be dropping by now? It’s been over 10 days.

It seems the date on the efb is correct now in freeflight which was not before

However in photgrapher mode it still reads

They’ve been dropping a handful of builds on Fridays, which seems a bit, bold.

I think as long as it’s a beta release and not a mandatory update for all users Friday releases aren’t high-risk. Anything horrible that happens as a result can always be rolled back by the user.

If it’s the same as 2020, what this setting does is hide planes that get close to you. It’s there because it was impossible to fly close formation since planes would disappear as they formed up. That setting was added so people could decide for themselves.

The original function was to prevent others from harassing you by flying close or even through you as you fly. They just disappear if they get too close. Off makes them disappear. On lets them fly right up next to you.

i wonder why the for example the heavy airliner rating in career mode is still missing even that ms promised us that all certifications are unlocked in the beta

They never promised any such thing - what is unlocked are all the specializations and modes that are available in the sim currently. Heavy Airliner isn’t available to anyone yet.

Exactly and the majority of people are off on weekends so it makes sense for Asobo to release on a Friday for us to test over the weekend whilst they’re off. That way they can get more builds to us in an efficient manner.

Nothing update today :confused::confused:

No other players, and no live traffic or even AI traffic.

It might be Earth’s twin, but it’s a dead one.

Oh I see plenty of AI traffic. Just learned that Maverick must be flying for United Airlines now that he’s out of the Navy :man_shrugging:t3:

That’s strange, because I’m seeing tons of live traffic on the WM and once I’m flying…

Thursday 12, said my crystal ball.

I did not realize that the beta would complete my carer mode for me and give me $1Bn in money. Is there a way to go back to the lessons for each stop on the career th?

This is from the very first “Welcome” post made at the start of the Beta. You probably should have read it:

Thanks, I should have understood what I read quickly.

I will say I am happy with the improvements of the live weather, it’s nice to have actual thunderstorms with lightning now.

Yes, the lightning may be a bit more aggressive than reality, but I prefer that over having nothing at all.

I do hope that they continue to make continual improvements to the weather in future SUs. For example here on this flight, I am at FL250 and about to completely fly over the top of some pretty nasty storms.

For any of those weather nerds out there, y’all would know those storms aren’t nowhere high enough. I was looking at some of the cloud tops during the nasty storms Texas had a couple days ago, and some of them were reaching 55,000-60,000’. You aren’t flying over those.

And like others have mentioned, adding appropriate turbulence to these storms, like updrafts, downdrafts, etc. I know for a fact it’s in the game, because I did a flight with custom weather one day with nasty weather, flew into one of the storms, and I dang near went to the moon. I posted a video somewhere here before, but that storm was bringing me up at over 11,000 fps. That might be a bit aggressive too, but I know it’s coded. Just needs to be implemented into the live weather somehow.

This is not a gripe, moan, or complaint. I’m liking the forward progress, and I’m just hopeful some of these things are implemented into future builds.

Here’s an example of a storm near Fredericksburg, TX happening right now, with cloud tops around 47,000’.

Weird! Hear them talking to ATC. Sometimes so much it’s hard to get a word in! (Although they/ATC do talk over each other at times!!). I see them flying around me. Although no contrails at this time.

So to me it seems that the windshield opacity in su3 .4 has change compared to su2 beta
Along with reflection on the canopy hood and i like this
But has it really changed? Anyone else noticed this or is it related to something else
Here are some pictures from my 2 49 inch Philips evnia screens
