I will say I am happy with the improvements of the live weather, it’s nice to have actual thunderstorms with lightning now.
Yes, the lightning may be a bit more aggressive than reality, but I prefer that over having nothing at all.
I do hope that they continue to make continual improvements to the weather in future SUs. For example here on this flight, I am at FL250 and about to completely fly over the top of some pretty nasty storms.
For any of those weather nerds out there, y’all would know those storms aren’t nowhere high enough. I was looking at some of the cloud tops during the nasty storms Texas had a couple days ago, and some of them were reaching 55,000-60,000’. You aren’t flying over those.
And like others have mentioned, adding appropriate turbulence to these storms, like updrafts, downdrafts, etc. I know for a fact it’s in the game, because I did a flight with custom weather one day with nasty weather, flew into one of the storms, and I dang near went to the moon. I posted a video somewhere here before, but that storm was bringing me up at over 11,000 fps. That might be a bit aggressive too, but I know it’s coded. Just needs to be implemented into the live weather somehow.
This is not a gripe, moan, or complaint. I’m liking the forward progress, and I’m just hopeful some of these things are implemented into future builds.
Here’s an example of a storm near Fredericksburg, TX happening right now, with cloud tops around 47,000’.
