SU3 Latest Update 1.5.4.0 - unplayable

That doesn’t help much as people are reading down this post looking for specific issues related to 1.5.4.0. The more places these problems are reported the better.

Then it’s quite simple, there is something wrong at your end of the pipeline. If there were something fundamentally wrong with the build meaning you couldn’t start a flight we’d all be in the same boat.

But as I’ve said already, it’s a beta. Report it to Asobo with accompanying log files…that is the whole point after all.

FWIW I agree about SU2 with you, it is almost a guaranteed CTD for me.

What I have experienced, generally, is that any time a new build is released, the first 2 or 3 sim starts results in some level of mayhem: CTDs, BSOD, stuttering, etc. All of that stops happening after a couple of more sim starts and computer reboots. Some have noted the randomness of this behavior and have attributed it to Asobo’s insistence on using streaming data, the theory being that when the stream hiccups, you get problems in the game. Others have noted that whenever a new build is pushed out, they need to delete and then rebuild their cache file so that older build data doesn’t get used in the new build.

I, for one, haven’t figured out what the cause or a clear-cut solution is other than to launch and shut down the sim multiple times after each new build before trying to actually use it. Bottom line, after the initial new build mayhem, each Beta version has worked just fine for me.

Good point @Wdseith, I’m experiencing similar effects from time to time and I wonder why MS/Asobo doesn’t let the sim delete old cache data automatically once an update is rolled out.

What a horrible way to add co-pilot or passengers. I haven’t figured a way to add passenger in the right seat when selecting only the destination airport. (starting flight in-air). It doesn’t work.

I flew a night flight from Wellington to Auckland using fslabs320 and had a very bad experience on the SU3 test version. At night, due to complex lighting, there was an unprecedented stuttering and frame rate drop. During landing, the frame rate suddenly dropped from 80fps to 15fps.
I use a computer with I9-14900K+4070ti, with all settings set to medium and DLSS set to balanced. I really didn’t expect that in 2025, simulated flight would have such poor performance. I don’t know why, but if you don’t believe me, you can all try the night flight performance at Addin Airport. I was greatly disappointed.

Same. Daytime flying is ok for the most part.

Night time flying is being severely affected by external aircraft light and other POI light sources.

It’s worth noting, if the night lighting is having issues, make sure you’ve disabled the Zinertek Aircraft Realistic Lights addon if you have it. That might mess with the night lighting.

I left a week ago with GPU crashs. Looks like it is pretty hopeless. Will stay on SU2.
