SU5 4K Ultra Test

The update has dropped and the forum is swamped. Some people have issues, asking for help, providing some information and getting some help, but there’s a lot of “it’s broken and doesn’t work” and Microsoft is evil as well. I have just run the game at LFPG (Paris) one of the busiest places to try and break this monster. Live weather on, live traffic on, multiplayer on, 2D, 4K Ultra, with no compromise on settings at all. Game is set at 30FPS with VSync on and… completely smooth game play. Traffic all over the place, A320 barrel role players, serious folks rolling out for a long haul to who knows where, GA pilots trying to buzz the tower, it’s all there with no stutters, and no crashes.

If this is the jump off point for the game finally running smooth and the further improvements and optimisations go from this point forward then it can only get even better. I tried to break it and I failed. I hit it with every single process straining option and could not bring it down, even over NYC with the same settings.

For those with issues, you have to give more than “it’s broken” because nobody can help you with that. there are some bugs (trimming being one of them, but I fixed that by moving the trim control from a wheel to a click button and it was sorted out) and Asobo needs to fix those bugs but problem solving is about information, it’s that simple.

I’m going to play this game and quietly hope for an Unreal Engine 5 update in the near future.

AMD 3900X, RTX 3070, 32GB, PCIE Gen 4 NVME SSD. NIKE Sneakers, not relevant but they are very nice.

Last sentence made me chuckle.

Yep, I’ve got the graphics maxed out now on my trusty old i9-10850K/2080Ti/64Gb on a 3440x1440 ultrawide and smooth as silk even in stuff like the DC-6.

Only real issues I see are some problems with some add-on aircraft and liveries (all being worked on) and had a few controller bindings inverted etc. which was an easy fix.

Still got the big 30secs - 2 minutes pause (occasionally never recovers) when coming back to this machine via a KVM but that was a known issue before SU5.
