agree! Having to watch the terrain pop in on the lowest settings possible is frustrating. The current build loads better even though it’s not as clear.
first flight in the c172 G1000 from Flightbeam’s KSFO to Spinoza’s KMOD with live traffic and weather (but mostly clear skies) and things look promising. Taking off out of KSFO I could see downtown Oakland and approaching Modesto you could see stuff from 19nm with more detail popping in at 10nm.
I have the feeling tomorrow will be terrible. My first flight are often good. Oddly enough, Today before the update, I flew three consecutive flights in the C152 after clearing my rolling cache and the scenery was great at all locations - Milwaukee, Los Angeles, and whatever the third place was…it all runs together…
I see decent improvement on xbox in terms of performance , but flawed UI, broken LOD and tons of particular planes bugs make every Reunion with MSFS20 such a relief and pleasure.
X Box X. This version is the best SU6 version yet for me. I took two flights today and the first was nearly four hours including a stopover and a ‘live pause’(whatever they call it).
I flew the C172 G1000 from KABQ – first to KPUB to refuel and then on to KAPA near Denver. I was using live weather but it was clear skies…live traffic also. The scenery never fell apart and there was only the tiniest of stutters as I turned off RWY28 at KAPA.
I was sure I could kill the sim by choosing ‘End Flight’ and then immediately going to Waukesha? KEUS or something – its in the PG near Milwaukee… I took off on 28 and at first it seemed as though it was struggling but as I flew towards downtown it recovered and scenery was quite good. There was an issue as I neared KMKE (default) but I think that airport has something wrong with it.
anyway - this version is really good imo and I hope it stays that way.
BTW - I recently cleared my Cloud Save and started over – I’m not sure if that is impacting anything.
Ahaha. WASM Instrument Crashed.
I have never seen that Crashes before, almost 1 Year playing FS24.
So, so much they were otpimizing for consoles, now the crash comes to PC.
If it goes like, I will lose very quick the fun of FS24 and will stay around on my HDD, like FS X did for more 10 Years that I did not lunch it at all.
So, this one goes in the gutter.
Performance was already bad in 2D for me, so I dreaded the fly in today for VR and my fears became true. Had atroucious performance. It got a bit better and borderline playable after resetting the rolling cache and the dx/nvidia shader caches. Also had to dial down settings especially TLOD.
I guess it also was the whole lot of PG in the countryside, cities and additional bespoke airports in switzerland. But still, not good.
Seems like SU6 beta have fixed my freezing issues in MSFS2024. In a “stable” build I had many freezes, where MSFS2024 simply got stuck (with graphics being frozen) and not responding. That was happening randomly, sometimes during a flight and sometimes right after spawning. I have RTX4060 8GB. Also DLSS seems to have less ghosting issues on SU6 beta.
I can’t see a category to rate performance so I’ll make a comment instead. Over the past few betas I’ve seen an improvement in the smoothness during landing with frame time spikes much reduced. However, with build 1.8.9.10 this improvement has reversed in fact I feel it is worst since release with the manipulator indicating spinking as a purple color resulting in a severe jolt visually. I’m locked at 30fps and with my system that leaves a massive overhead to absorb spikes but sadly that is now being exceeded.
Edit to add: the spikes I’m describing as slightly different to those that have been previously reported in other betas which tended to happen almost exactly as the aircraft wheels touched down. These new spikes I’m observing can happen within a few minutes of landing (so maybe taxiing) and happen even at very small airports.
My system 9800X3D/RTX5090/64GB/1Gbps/Ultra/300TLOD/200OLOD
There are polls for Performance and Stability for each platform: PC, XBOX Series X|S, PS5, and PC-VR. Please vote in the appropriate surveys for your platform.
Previous versions had low detail and it was slow to go to the next higher level. This version starts at a higher LOD and goes higher quicker - or so it seems to me. I flew into Sarasota FL and up into Tampa for the firs time on this cache and things look good enough imo:
I don’t like the trees pretty much anywhere in Fs2024 and I dont understand why it is that all kinds of ground details can show but yet runways (and highways sometimes) often look like this:
I dont suffer the super blurry runways that some do - and it almost appears to be an anisotropic filtering thing…not sure. some addon runways are crisp and some are like the above pic. rarely do I see super blurry though - probably due to my aircarft choice – which is another reason I say this is the best beta version yet… I always had to fly the C152 to get this detail before.
Really difficult starting the sim (Aviators edition) in v1.8.10.0 on PS5Pro.
Gets stuck most of the time at 2% and needs several restarts before it boots… And some days it requires one or several start attempts in Safe Mode (where it also gets stuck most times). Took almost an hour to get it to boot up the very first time after install to begin with. Eventually got Safe mode to start. Had to leave the F600 addon disabled (which had started working in v1.8.9.0. It was the only active marketplace addon) or a normal start was not possible. But it didnt solve the problem, only made it go from impossible to difficult.
V1.8.8.0 and v1.8.9.0 also got stuck alot at 2% or sometimes 7%, 9% or rarely 14-17%. But v1.8.10.0 is 10 times worse.
The regular SU5.1 public release usually starts flawlesly.
I got also a huge drop in FPS at my “std” Airport EDDF. Also at LOWW and LOWI, a substancial drop in FPS.
The curious on that is , changing graphics settings to Low-End does not change anything. So , airports are consuming all computing power, or there is a sort o Lock fps in place.
Previous Builds, I noticed a huge drop at KJFK.
Now, it arises Europe.
Instead of fixing Bug´s like poor Terrain and poor performance, they are working in other places that make it all worse.
I do not realy know what for is this Surveys, people are engaging in Reporting issues, but as it looks like, they do not bother about it, they have other planes for how FS Dev should go.
EDIT: All User Interface, Menus, pressing Esc, are very slow. Overall the responsiveness is not good as it was before SU5.
