Just flew the first leg of the Australian bushtrip (~15min). So far so good. Even able to change time and weather as wanted. For the love of god, don’t ever remove that ability, please.
On first load of the leg, my plane was missing for some reason. But after a restart of the leg, it was there. Not sure if just a one off thing or a bug yet.
So far everything feels great. I really miss having the displayed completion percentage for the bush trip, though - just like it was in MSFS 2020. It was a small feature, but really useful for tracking your progress. I hope they bring it back.
Oh My Lord… AL 63 Discover Germany which was one of Perfect Flights first bush trips, it never ran for me in 2020. I looked at the structure of the bush trip, and I could tell it was just organized much differently than other bush trips. I don’t remember how, its been years since I looked into it. But I could NEVER get this bush trip to run in 2020. The bush trip would just bog down memory, and then turn into a slide show trying to get off the ground.
With Beta, I had to change the aircraft. I don’t have the 2020 versions of the aircraft installed. Ok. But once I did that, I was able to get off the ground, and there was a narration telling me where to go. WOOT! I haven’t done the full trip yet, its a 8.5 hour trip. But it was nice seeing all my purchased 2020 bush trips, and able to actually launch one that I wasn’t even able to ever get to fully run under 2020. So so far, it is looking good.
No. This was a purchased bush trip from Perfect Flight for 2020 that I was testing with. AL 63 Discover Germany. It was one of Perfect Flights first bush trips, in fact, this was before Microsoft hired them as a first partner for bush trips. It was very early in 2020, like first year, so probably a 2021 addon.
In 2020, you could snoop around in the official packages directory that contained each bush trip and find a .PLN file with the route. You could then open it up in Little Nav Map which was very useful at times.
Anyone able to fish around the beta and see if they included the .PLN files again?
Yes, because a large part of the bush trip concept is the dead-reckoning navigation, that falls apart the moment you start using an aircraft with different performance capabilities than what it was designed for.
Could some bush trip missions at least allow for the substitution of the default plane with another aircraft of similar cruise speed/performance figures…
Fly them with whatever you like as per normal, just read the notes separately.
Flight plans and legs all still work the same. Load them into whatever tool you like to modify.
Little Nav Map has aircraft performance profiles as does the Flight Planner but would need conversion to 2024 format (I think LNMap would help there).
The bush trips were not modified after release, and any that were seemed to have been kept up to date if they were.
Afaik the SU6 beta BT’s are straight conversions of the 2020 bush trips.
They have not mentioned adding any new ones or changing them, but who knows
In any event, you have all the 2020 bush trip data available to create your own trips if you so desire.
Here’s the 2020 Alaskan full pln loaded into LittleNavMap (you can also load individual legs) with export to 2024 pln highlighted on left. You can then load that into MSFS flight planner. In theory, that is…hahah!
Someone may have a crack at converting them all too, if you hang around long enough perhaps.
Update: I just converted the 2020 Portugal bt to 2024 format and tried to open it in MSFS flightplanner but it threw an error on not finding the starting airport LPVA, which no longer appears to be in 2024, but it’s in LNMap. Asking on the WT discord why. So if you do try to convert some and they don’t load open the developer console to check for error messages.
